RIP Riley (2 Viewers)

Shady - hang in there man.  I know you've said you are sad all the time but please know that is not what Riley would want - she'd want her incredible Daddy to be happy.
Hang in there Shady.  Keep being strong for your family.  You lost that precious little girl but you still have a great wife and son that need you.

**ANNOUNCEMENT**

Sunday December 4th, NYC Cornhole in honor of our GB Shady!

So more people can attend, we will hit up a bar in the City (that's Manhattan for you rookies out there).

any suggestions for a place? And who plans to attend? If I get a count and it seems we need to reserve a table or something I'll make arrangements. Otherwise we will just all converge on the same place. Figure we start at 1 (gather anytime after noon) and go until we peter out.

Whos got a good place that's convenient for folks from Long Island, NJ and WC... since let's be honest, no place is convenient for SI.  But Shady said he's willing to head into the city for this.

Who is in?

Reichenbach Hall is a pretty damn good beer garden.  It's close to Grand Central and Penn Station so it's conveniently located.  Place is pretty big too.  Someone in the beer thread manages a beer bar in les which isn't convenient but  he's a fbguy so that could be an option.

Two things, if we're doing this on a Sunday I need to see all the games. Fantasy football has been my one escape during these few months. The second is, as much as Id like to, I cant get trashed. As koya said above, coming from Staten Island into Manhattan is an absolute nightmare. Im looking at either a 2 hour trip via public transportation or a much quicker drive in which I obviously cant be inebriated.

Im not doing this to get drunk (honestly havent drank much since Riley's passing as I equate drinking to good times and I havent been in the mood). Moreso to just chill and hang out.

I can't get smashed either.  Reichenbach might not be the best place to watch all the games then. I know they have TVs but not sure how viewing friendly it is. They do advertise Sunday football.  I'll give em a call to check it out. Also,  the Ainsworth might be a good bet too. We should reserve a table if we go that route.

Damn my wife just told me we have a wedding on the 4th at 5pm. I'm still good for a couple of hours especially if we start at noon.

Sundays not great for me... but I'll see what I can do.

in terms of coming in from both directions... at least by car... there's always the EVil (williamsburgh bridge, holland tunnel). a bunch of sports bars here now that show everything.

Foleys (by the Empire State Building) is the best sports bar on planet earth, especially if you love baseball.  I can't make it but if you can't find a bar in Manhattan to agree on, go to Foleys.

Is the soiree still on? Has a proper location been scouted?

I'm still in. Havent picked a spot
Let's just do it... someone recommended a spot closer to Penn which is probably easy for everyone to get to, but I'm flexible.

So, shall we considered Sunday Dec. 4th confirmed (we have at least three of us, party can grow from there)?

Dammit - I have stuff that entire weekend that I can't move.

No worries GB.  No reason we can't do a few of these a year.  I'm also reaching out to @Tremendous Upside 's friends to see if they can join.  It was this board where I met TU and from there had a meet up and became quite literally, best of friends.

If it doesn't work out this go around, we can choose a playoff game come January, or maybe the first Sunday of march madness.  Casual gettogethers... could be 5 of us, or 25 depending.

that's where I was/am as well.

hoping something gives- would love to cornhole the crap out of you people (in honor of shady).

The TU crew won't be able to make it - but we are planning a ceremony for the Tremendous Upside Memorial Cup fantasy league (inaugural winner, perhaps aptly so, is yours truly) during one of the playoff weekends.

That could be ShadyUpsideHole - Universes Collide.

WHO'S IN!

lol I don't live close to NY so I will not be making it.  I can ship $25 or whatever to help out though if it persuades more people to show up.

I really wanted to be there for this one just not in the cards with a wedding that afternoon. Tried to make the logistics work but not gonna happen.....I'm bummed.  I'll try to put one of these together in the new year was looking good forward to meeting everyone.  Have fun.

So last night we went to a memorial tree lighting service the funeral home does for all the deceased. It truly was beautiful. Here is a picture of the ornament we had made for Riley. Also if you look next to it, there is an ornament of a tree with a cardinal on it. The funeral home put those up on their own. That other ornament is my mother's who passed away 4 years ago. Pretty cool that they got placed together (they have thousands of ornaments).

Tomorrow, my wife and I go back to the hospital where Riley passed to review the autopsy results so that should be fun. We thought about not going but we thought it would be good for some closure and to answer some unanswered questions we had.

What are the odds that the ornaments are placed next to each other!?  That is just incredible.  Ugh...about tomorrow, that is another rough pill for you to swallow....one of many this past year.  Stay strong my man and know you have people thinking about you and your family this holiday season.

It is widely believed that a cardinal is a representative of a loved one who has passed looking down on you. The ornament you had done for Riley, the ornament for your Mom, and the funeral home ornament with the cardinal should be reassurance to you that they are looking down on you with love.

It's nice that the funeral home does this.  The one I used for my father does something similar.

That's a lovely tree and some nice ornaments there.  Thanks for letting us see them.
