RMoss owners: What do you think of his matchup vs Cle? (1 Viewer)

I have Randy in a number of leagues. Probably more than I should since Im getting burned this year. Some leagues I have to start him, others I have options at WR4. My question is:

What do you think of his Cle matchup this week at home?

If Im not mistaken, the Cle secondary is a banged up. My take is that if any time, this would be the time Shell and Oak showcase Walter and air some balls out. Oak has difficuly matchups vs Den, SD, and even KC this year. This leads me to believe that if Randy is going to have a breakout game this season, this would be the one.

Other thoughts for the depressed Randy Moss owners with options at WR4?

FWIW, Moss is on the pine until proven other wise. That OL for Oak is just horrid and we've seen nothing to suggest it has gotten better.

if you look at the NFL.com play by play summary in week 2, Walter targeting Moss 10 times in that game, and 7 were described as "deep" passes. That is encouraging IMO...

I'm starting him today. I'm thinking with the bye week to work on things and the Cleveland secondary opposing him he'll have a big week. If he doesn't, he goes to the pine.

Wow, those are encouraging numbers. Can you post the link to the information?

Good points about the bye week.I agree with most that I really want to bench him. However, if you look at Moss's numbers now, what are the chances that they continue to be this bad or get worse compared to the chances that they get better? At this point, I dont think he going to end up top 10, but do we really think he will end up worse than top 20?

I made the horrible mistake of owning Moss and Owens this year in my redraft league....I also have Colston and Jennings who i should be starting but how can I not start them...If I get burned this week they are riding th pine for the rookies....I think I will start smokin' with Randy and Going to theropy with TO....

:wall:

I like Moss vs Cleveland this week.

Gary Baxter is still out. And he couldn't run with Moss anyways if he did play.

Defensive linemen Orpheus Roye(Q), Simon Frasier(Q) and Nick Eason(OUT) also have minor injuries leaving thier line/pass rush at only somthing like 70% strength.

Willie McGinest also has a injury. (Q)

Free safeties Brian Russell(P) and Justin Hamilton(Q) have injuries as well. Russell is gettin old and has been more lucky than good during his career.

So while I think the Browns may be able to do a decent job of slowing down the running game they are no where near the smothering unit comparable to what the Raiders have faced in SD and the Ravens.

The Browns pass rush and coverage is in even worse shape than thier run defense. So I see Walter getting more time to find Moss and coverage on Moss being much worse than what he has faced so far.

very possible for Moss to have the best day of any Wr this week.

I think this is a key week for Moss owners. Either Moss will start to perform against a weak defense/favorable matchup for him, or we can start to conclude that this entire year will be very tough for we Moss owners.

I can understand the first two weeks being very poor for MOss, with 2 tough matchups, a new offense, and a terrible OL. With two weeks to prepare for this game and Walter to get a little more comfortable, we will learn alot today.

I have him in my lineup in WCOFF and NFFC. Its now or never.

I can't think why you wouldn't be satsified with 1 catch for 5 yards and one whole score from a player you drafted in the 2nd or 3rd round against a very weak CLE defense. And the fact that complete ineffort stopped him from getting more like 50 yards and a 2nd score.

His TD gives him another week in my lineup...but call me worried...Brooks needs to get healthy, asap, did I just say that?

Nice to see you back after the bye week, Randy. Resume your occupation of the bench until week 7 when I HAVE to start you to cover a bye.

Moss is just about as close to negative value as you can get right now. I may pull my game out this week anyway, but egads.....he blows right now.
