Taylor Swift is the last one left......

It's why I have to laugh when there is a thread about HATE for Taylor Swift yet ppl love this guy Thicke who has been handed a music career, the best producers, Stolen Beats and Video Boobs money can buy....

EDIT: I just listened to Got To Give It Up and Blurred Lines back to back again. I think the language from the DJ complaint filed by Thicke's lawyers is exactly right. There's no doubt that both songs feature a cowbell rhythm and a simple bass line to drive the track. It's also abundantly clear that the songs feature DIFFERENT cowbell rhythms and DIFFERENT bass lines.

So while I have no doubt that Blurred Line is meant to evoke Got to Give It Up, it also doesn't appear to infringe on its copyright the way I understand the law. It would be a broad copyright indeed that extended to any cowbell rhythm backed by any relatively simple bass line.

The funny part though is where Thicke says he went into the studio and said, I wanna make a song "just like" Give it up.... And Amazingly within a Half hour they came up with a song...... LOL, Really guy.

The Foo Fighters write their own songs. Black Keyes. Plenty of others do it. Especially on the country side.

In the pop/R&B side, it seems to be dying, but something inside of me just doubts that it's forever. I mean, this can't be it forever. People sampling and using computers and talking over it. It can't be this way forever. it just can't be. Maybe it's me hoping against hope.

 
I finally heard this song for the first time this morning, AFAIK. I'd always seen this thread in here but never opened it...knew the song was #1 on the charts but had absolutely 0 interest in seeking out a Robin Thicke song :X . I'm far from some old white dude, but I suppose those go to show how often I frequent dance clubs or listen to pop radio (read: almost never).

I wasn't paying close attention, but it sounded like an average late-90s dance R&B/late new jack type of jam, something like Dru Hill would've put out back in the day. Seems danceable at a bar or party, but not something I'd seek out and add to my rotation.

Now I hear there's a tremendous music video for this? Might have to take off my pants and do some research later, watch the video a few times, you know, to get a better understanding of how I really feel about the song.

This post is right on time for me but maybe in reverse. I'm getting dangerously close to being some old white dude but for the past couple weeks this tune has made it to my stations and I finally caught the name this afternoon to look up this thread! :lol:

The subsequent canned playlist is actually taking me back to a good place right now--nothing really original but Smoooth.

So "Got to Give it Up" is a classic.

"Blurred Lines" is a total ripoff.

Yet "Blurred Lines" is the worst thing you ever heard.

Gotta give it up to Thicke for raising the slut bar....Miley was just putting out there during the VMAs in this wonderful rendition of the classic, "Blurred Lines".

You can enjoy getting some primo bush by dancing to a song like this without liking it. It's really not a good song. It has captivated the masses because of the sex talk and hot trim snaking around in the video. As far as music goes the song is so hollow its almost awkward to perform live especially without that hot brunette broad that prances around nude. I love her.

FWIW, I don't get whats SO AMAZING about the video. Yes, its models / hotties without tops on. Have you all never seen this before? Is it the dizzying musicality PLUS the broads that creates some type of alchemistic reaction?
