I'd take Roddy as a much more complete WR, but he said Dynasty and Roddy is 30/31 years old. And Mike is 25/26. 5 years seems like a rather nice cushion.

Not sure what you mean by this....but the reason is me and a co-worker were debating who to take in a start up draft we are conducting. Roddy, as good as he is, is getting older. The biggest thing to me was Roddy has been a rock solid fantasy WR for many years, and while Wallace is a nice young WR, he is more of a deep threat, and really will never be that true #1 WR like a Roddy, or a Calvin, Fitz, AJ, etc...all these guys catch close to a 100 balls a year if not more, while Wallace may never be more than a 70-80 catch guy at most every year. The emergence of Antonio Brown also will play a huge role.All that said, Wallace is the younger guy, who I think is undervalued right now to be sure and I am not sure why.Do we simply overlook the value of Roddy because he will be 31? Does he not have at least 2 years if not 3 left at an elite level before falling off to maybe a high end WR2 status, much like R. Wayne did?I guess the real question is does age really play a part here? I mean he is 31, not 35. For me, dynasty wise, I tend to look 3 years out and not much further as there are too many variables and unknowns beyond that. So for the next 3 years does Roddy White outscore Mike Wallace or does Mike Wallace outscore Roddy White? Too me, I lean towards Roddy White over the next 3 years.Both guys are pretty close I believe in the end value wise. Both have issues that effect their value.

Your right. PPR does make a slight difference as White will definitely have more catches, but if it was PPR or NPPR, would that really make a difference in who you choose?

That's the point of the thread and the reason for the question.Do you prefer a relatively sure thing for the sort term, or a riskier, but better long-term option?Yes, Jones could eat into White's production more and more every year. Or White could be Harrison-like (or even Wayne-like) - and keep producing and a consistantly high level into his mid 30s. On the flipside you have Wallace, who's future is a little murky right now, who is younger, and shown flashes, but is hardly as proven and has a much more inconsistant track record.If Wallace ends up playing somewhere other than Pitt, his value could plummet or skyrocket. For example, if he goes to Jets - if he ends up on Patriots - (those are extremes to make the point - no actual suggestions) - the point being Wallace's production isn't guaranteed either - even if he does stay in Pittsburg.

Over the next 3 years I'd take Roddy by the slightest margin but they are both top 10 WR's with Wallace obviously having the long term edge. Wallace could be as high as top 5 and so could Roddy, if or when Julio gets dinged or hammy etc, Roddy is always and was again last year among the top targeted WR's in the league.

^This. Just plain lazy or a bias in tagging Wallace as a WR with a one route. Wallace has already been a top 5 WR for two seasons and the Jets, Browns or Jags are the only places to drag him (or anyone else for that matter) down.

Maybe. The downward spiral of Mularkey was his predictability, however. Both Falcon coordinators knew they were being replaced and jumped before they could take action. DK will bring fresh eyes, and spread the ball around- believe me that's what needed fixing - how can he miss with this talent?.

I think I read somewhere recently that Roddy has been the most targeted WR in the league the past few seasons. With the type of QB that Ryan is, I expect he has some freedom in that offense, despite a new OC. So, unless the entire philosophy changes, I think its better to go with Roddy because he is a very good established player that gets a lot of looks and can be used anywhere in the field.

His age doesn't concern me. I know someone made a comparison to Wayne "slowing down", but its not the same. We could say Steve Smith "slowed down" in Carolina a few seasons ago at the same age roddy is now but the common denominator is both Wayne and Smith went through a period of sucktitude QBs. Roddy isn't in that position with a young Matt Ryan, barring injury. I think he could have 2-3 top years left, just as Smith resurged and I expect Wayne will this year. And in a dynasty league, 2-3 years is about as far as is practical to speculate because so much can change in that time period.

So, given that, and remembering that EVEN IN A DYNASTY LEAGUE you can only win the season that you are playing in, I like Roddy.

I don't own Wallace or White on my Dynasty teams. I hope I am wrong about White- being a huge Falcon fan all my life. His targets to receptions is almost 2 to one this past season and the targets and yardage went down 2010 -last year. They will not target him like the old days- that got the Falcons zero playoff wins and a playbook read by every opponent in big games- (Mularkey's fault). DK will change the pattern- believe it- the old one didn't work and was too predictable.

Best case for Roddy, Wallace has twice as much career left in front of him. Worst case for Roddy, you're looking at 4 times the remaining career length. That is a HUGE deficit to overcome, and White isn't outproducing Wallace by anywhere near enough to do it. I'm not a huge Wallace fan (Antonio Brown is as big of a threat to Wallace as Julio is to White), but I think the age disparity is really too big of a factor. Love ya, Roddy, but give me Mike.

Truth, but if I remember correctly Roddy had some major drops and other problems with his game that kept him off the field. A lot of people were ready to give up on him.My point is from a development standpoint Wallace has shown more than Roddy in his first three seasons. It's ridiculous to sing White's praises while ignoring that Wallace has shown quite a bit very quickly. For a three year window my choice would be Wallace without question.
