Rodney Harrison (1 Viewer)

Loan Sharks

Not a Wolf
Espn Radio is saying he is suspended for 4 games for obtaining and using HGH.

Mort just said that he was caught in a federal dragnet.

Update, Len Pasquarelli just said that the feds were doing a multi state investigation on some pharmacies and Harrison admitted to taking HGH to the feds.

Sorry no link, I am just listening to the stream online. They are still talking about it now.

They were speculating that it was the same pharmacutical link to the supplier for Tim Couch, and that a few more names may surface in the next couple of days.

More nfl players names will be coming out over the next week. They will be part of The Signature Pharmacy Company where they busted some wwe wrestlers.

Everyone does realize that the NFL does not test for HGH. I'm not sold on this story yet.
Which is how he got away with it for probably a couple of years now.... if this is true; you got to think that there is going to be a ton of not only NFL guys, but elite atheletes in all sports caught.

Noone stated he tested positive.
The news thus far...New England Patriots safety Rodney Harrison will be suspended by the NFL for four games because he admitted to federal investigators that he obtained Human Growth Hormone, sources have told ESPN's Chris Mortensen. Harrison had a hearing with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell on Friday, the sources said. The Patriots could announce the suspension as early as Saturday. A league spokesman said the NFL had "no comment" about Harrison, who also could not be reached. Efforts to reach the Patriots were unsuccessful. The admission by Harrison has never been made public but his name was among those known to federal and New York state investigators that conducted a two-year investigation into an Internet pharmaceutical distribution ring for steroids and other performance enhancers such as HGH. Investigators have discovered several athletes across many sports whose names were linked in the probe. Sources say at least one NFL assistant also has been questioned. Chris Mortensen is an NFL analyst for ESPN.

Would James Sanders be the SS, if Harrison is suspended?
I've been hearing good things about him this pre-season, so I would imagine that he would be the starter, yes. Just my guess, though.ETA: I bet the Pats wish they hadn't cute Artrell Hawkins now.

That's funny as hell. I don't see the turkeys - looks like some kinda scifi channel alien to me - but thanks for the laugh.

Sounds like a lot of guys might be going down soon. Wonder if "Lights Out" is going for strike #2?
I thought it was funny how some Pats and/or Pats fans (and others among the league like Taylor) made a big deal about Merriman and his steroids when the Pats had Sauerbraun on their team. Now if Rodney and others were using it makes it even more hypocrticial.Between Vick naming names and this federal probe I wonder how many players are seriously sweating bullets. I'm kind of glad that Seattle is in "Siberia" at this point and hope few of them are involved in either enterprise.

Suspended for a substance that's produced naturally in the body. It's BS suspensions like this that is turning the NFL into a joke. Gotta love it when guys are being suspended for using something that was being advertised all over sports radio(and every other format) 2 years ago. The players union needs to step in and stop this nonsense.

HGH is not steroids (and even if it was, the hysteria over steriods is just plain ridiculous. Like the global warming hoax, the scientific evidence doesn't match what's being said in the media).

Rodney's statement

By Mike Reiss, Globe Staff

Rodney Harrison did not take questions on his conference call. He spoke for about four minutes. Here is what he said:

This is Rodney Harrison and I am basically here to let you all know that the commissioner will announce tomorrow I have been suspended by the NFL for violating the league policy for substance abuse. That suspension will be four games. I want to make it clear that not once did I ever use steroids. I did admit to the commissioner that I did in fact use a banned substance. My purpose was never to gain a competitive edge. Rather my use was solely for the purpose of accelerating the healing process of injuries I sustained while playing football.

I have not made excuses nor will I make excuses. I made a mistake and I am very sorry for that. I understand that I am a role model from high school, to college, to young kids. I do not condone my business, my behavior. I am very, very embarrassed by it. I am disappointed in myself. For any young person, any high schooler, any college athlete, I have been [inaudible] with my actions and I would ask, and I would not want to be the example for them, to never jeopardize their health. And they always have to love themselves.

At this time, I would like to ask all you guys, because I know you have a hundred million questions for me, but this is a mistake, and this is something that I have done. This is nothing that my teammates were involved in and I ask that at this time the respect of my teammates not to be violated. This is something Rodney Harrison did, Rodney Harrison did alone. My teammates did not do it. So as they are preparing for the Jets and the San Diego game and Cincinnati and those games after that, I would ask that you just would give them the respect not to badger them with questions, because they do not have any information. As well as my family -- I have kids, I have a wife, and I would just ask for the respect for my family. It was something I did and they should not have to go through it.

I will be absent from the team for the next four weeks. That is a penalty that I have to serve. I intend to return and do my best to really help this team in any capacity I can help this team get back to winning the championship. It has been a tough time for me. The last week or two, even before this, I have apologized to my family, which has supported me, all my friends, and now I would like to take this opportunity to apologize to my teammates. Like I said before, they never were involved with this. This is something I did and I apologize to them for being a distraction because that is the last thing we need going into the regular season. I never intended for that to happen. I apologize to the entire New England Patriots organization and the fans who have supported me so faithfully over the past five seasons here, through Super Bowls, injury, through ups and downs. They have supported me. I definitely, definitely appreciate them. At this time, that is my statement. I am not answering any questions. Like I asked before, I appreciate your patience and I just ask that you respect my teammates and my family. Thank you.

It would have to enhance performance to be a "performance enhancing substance". It doesn't.btw-he didn't test positive. There is no test for it unless you happen to be there to test his blood within minutes after taking it. He admitted to it.

Duh you dumb ####### idiot ( Rodney not poster lol ) . That is part of the competitive edge

Pats fan here.

A friend of mine told me about 3 or 4 months ago that Harrison had used HGH before to recover from injury. He said he knew the supplier. I'm a huge Harrison fan, and I had to admit that Harrison is such a competitor, that I could see him doing just about anything to get back onto the field if he was out injured, including resorting to something like this. I'm obviously disappointed that this is true, but I guess he's handling it about as well as could be expected. Harrison is the heart and soul of the defense when he's on the field, and he looked great in the preseason. Hopefully he comes back strong in Week 5. I have a feeling he will.

Why would you be disappointed that he was taking medicine to get back on the field? Nothing immoral about what he did.The body produced this substance. it's not a steroid(and even if it were steroiods, there's legitimate medical use for those too). You should be disappointed that the NFL is getting to be almost as ridiculous as the International Olympic Comittee. Those NAZIS are banning people for taking over the counter cold medication.

When I see posts like this that talk about how he should skate, it's just a little HGH amongst friends, and when I see Briggs get a "it's just a little DWI amongst friends, Lance, don't sweat it dude", it screams of "it's okay as long as it's my team".

Seriously, if this were Chad Johnson would you react this way? Nope.

Anyhow, I'll just hope my team's not in this mess (and if they are, kick the dudes out) and watch the apologists

"I want to make it clear," Harrison said, "that never once did I take steroids.
You and Rafael Palmeiro both. Already an admitted cheat, now you expect people should trust you? Nope. Sounding just like Senator Craig.

Real dissapointing news here. I'm a huge Harrison fan. He's the type of player you can't truly understand how good he is until he plays for your team and you watch him play every down. He brings it every single play and is totally consumed by winning. His attitude is contagious and relentless which is why he became a team captain before he even played one regular season game for the Pats. Yet, now that he has this blemish I'll never look at him the same way which is really unfortunate. He broke the rules and the fact he's a team leader makes this infraction that much more unacceptable. How or why he used this junk can be spinned but the bottom-line is he screwed up and that screw up has hurt him, his teammates and the franchise a whole.

I wonder how this will impact the Pats the first 4 games. In my opinion they are a different team when Harrison is playing.

Question:

At what point will fans who left MLB because of the illegal substance issue start to question their allegiance to the NFL because of the same thing? It seems to me that between illegal substance issues and IMO more importantly, player character questions, NFL is fast becoming a sports entity that one shouldn't feel proud supporting. There was a sports radio program talking about it this past week in which how fans turn a blind eye to the unsavory conduct of NFL players while at the same time focus a spotlight on those actions of MLB players. Is there a double standard here?

Absolutely they are a different team without him and many Pats fans feel he is almost as important to the defense as TB is to the offense. IMO, it is no coincidence that NE has not made it back to the SB while Harrison has been injured. This is a huge punch in the stomach to that team to start the season; particularly with SD coming to town in week 2.HGH is a banned substance, so if you do the crime you got to do the time and I have no problem with that. However, IMO there is a difference between what Merriman did and what Harrison did. The former while young and healthy used steroids to gain a competitive advantage; while the latter a much older player used HGH while trying to recover from injuries faster. Still wrong, but there is a big difference IMO. I know Rodney is not well liked so by all means, let the flaming commence
