Roethlisberger or Alexander? (1 Viewer)

Shaun Alexander is due for a leg break, so my money's on him.

I imagine the marketing department selects it, because if it was up to Madden, every year it would be Brett Favre.

Thats pretty funny. But honestly why the snub on the white athlete. In 06 they went with Mcnabb. All he did was lose the SB. Brady won his 3rd and Manning set the TD record!

I don't see this as a snub at all. All EA Sports wants to do is make money. I think they pick the player who they believe best captured the public fancy during the previous season. They want their box to stand out from others on the shelf.

kind of like a fantasy football mag with tatum bell on the cover?

Given that it's the only game in town, maybe it doesn't matter -- the cover isn't going to sell more games since people are either going to buy their game or none. Maybe regional covers? "Collector's editions" ... could even make multiple sales to some of the "devout" out there.

If my choices are limited to those two, how could it not be Ben? He's young and marketable. As he ages he's only going to become more of a household name.

Sorry, No Link....but they already announced it was going to be Peyton Manning for 2006 cover.

If I find the link I will update this post.

I couldn't find the link, now I am wondering if it was just speculation at this point.

or tiki barber...

Big Ben because their may be doubts when they are looking into who to sign up as to where Shaun Plays, and if he moves getting him in his new team kit etc...

Steve Smith because he represents the big play potential that gamers enjoy.

When do they make the choice? If soon, they might avoid Alexander because he could sign elsewhere. As a Hawks fan I wouldn't resign Alexander if he is on the cover..........the curse is not something to be triffled with. Big Ben may be a good choice because a curse can't bring him down much lower than his last performance. (hehe)_

Manning can't be on the cover as far as I know- NFL Fever has him

Didn't EA buy the rights to have the only pro football video game (Madden) about a year ago? Madden had no competition this year from other NFL Licensed products. I think NFL Fever is dead.

Yes, that's correct for this season, but that is why Manning wasn't on the Madden cover previously.

It depends what the game is trying to do innovative this year. Last year they had the new vision cone and therefore put a QB on the cover

Sea Bass, I'm disappointed in you. I thought for sure you'd nominate Bill Leavy. :penalty: ;)

Is there going to be a Madden next year? I thought that the rights to the Madden name had terminated or something, and that there wouldn't be any more games.

It does not appear that they like to feature the same position two years in a row. That probably rules out Big Ben.

2006: McNabb

2005: Ray Lewis

2004: Vick

2003: Faulk

2002: Culpepper

2001: Eddie George

A WR is long overdue. If CJ had not choked his WR coach, he would be a top contender. TO and Moss are way too risky. Steve Smith is not that big of a household name yet.

on ipetitions.com there is a petition to get pat tillman on cover. Just thought that it would be interesting to add. But it will never happen

Last two years this especially holds true. The 2005 game contained many defensive innovations and had Ray Lewis. 2006 with McNabb featured the vision cone like stated. I hear that the new systems would allow for much more control of player movements with the analog stick. If so, Barry Sanders in his hey day would be gold. I would guess Steve Smith, a runner like LT2, or the human joystick Dante Hall would be possibilities.
