Roethlisberger's Injury - Conflicting Reports (1 Viewer)

The OP needs to change the topic. It is misleading. Steelers released an official statement that his foot is not broken."The Steelers released a statement late Thursday afternoon, denying that Ben Roethlisberger has a "new fracture" in his right foot.According to the Steelers, Big Ben aggravated an old injury, breaking up scar tissue in the area. NFL Network's Jason LaCanfora marries the two reports, stating that Roethlisberger has a "small, pre-existing fracture in his right foot." It's a painful injury, but one Roethlisberger is fully expected to play through. He remains a top-12 fantasy option at quarterback at Baltimore. Dec. 2 - 6:02 pm et"

Looks like maybe it should be changed again because this thread has turned into something totally different than what it started out as.
I agree. OP should change the title of this thread to "James Harrison hate thread"

Why didn't you address the part about him lowering his head and helmet in the hit on Fitzpatrick, which is undeniable?
I think that could explain the flag (if the ref thought Harrison made contact with Fitz's helmet), but it cannot explain the fine. The NFL admits that Harrison hit Fitz in the chest, so to me it was a textbook tackle and the fine was ridiculous and totally improper.

Seems like the only team too dumb to figure out the new rule enforcement is the Steelers. No other team seems to consistently be confused about the new enforcement to the point where they're racking up tons of fines andconsistently wrong when asserting that specific plays are clean. And my guess is that they'll continue to be this willfully ignorant until the NFL grows a pair and suspends Harrison for his next illegal hit. At this point it's a joke that they ever threatened to suspend players when Harrison has been fined 4 times now for illegal hits. But the NFL always gives the Rooney family special privileges that no other team receives.
It is not just the Steelers -- fines are way up across the league. The Steelers most hated rival is the Ravens and even they (both offensive and defensive players) have come out in support of Harrison. In last night's game there were several disagreements among the commentators on several hits as to whether or not flags should have been thrown. The league has done an awful job outlining exactly why some hits are legal and some are not.And go back and watch all of the laundry thrown during the last couple of Steelers games and tell me again how the Steelers get special privileges from the NFL. Absolutely ridiculous statement.
Since when did the Ravens eclipse the Browns as most hated? And did you ever pause to consider that maybe the Ravens players are just egging the Steelers on in the hopes that Harrison gets his dumb self suspended?Lastly, of course the Rooneys get preferential treatment. Tomlin and Art Rooney have been running their mouths for weeks about how the NFL is wrong on these rulings and how they're out to get the Steelers. If any other coach or owner in the league kept running their mouths like that, they'd get their lips sealed with a nice big fine. But not the Steelers. And I guarantee that if a Buffalo Bill racked up his fourth illegal hit already be would have been suspended by now. B

Not gonna do it. This thread is about Roethlisberger's injury status only. All discussion about NFL fines, penalties and general tomfoolery should be taken to another thread.

Really? Because I haven't seen that at all. I'm not trying to call you out with this request (it's not an "I bet you can't find a link" request)... but do you have a link or something so I can hear it for myself?

More info about Roethlisberger from the PG:

Gerry: Ben's foot broken years agoFriday, 03 December 2010 11:36Written by Gerry Dulac Here’s the lowdown on Ben Roethlisberger’s right foot injury. Roethlisberger indeed has a broken bone in his foot, but it was broken a long time ago, probably seven or eight years ago. The fracture was not determined until after the home loss against the New England Patriots last month when Roethlisberger stepped on an awkward spot on the field and sprained his foot. An examination revealed the previous unbeknownst fracture. The injury was exacerbated on the first series against the Buffalo Bills when Roethlisberger went to plant on his foot and felt the pain again. Roethlisberger is wearing a shoe that is protected by metal braces during practice this week, but he will not be allowed to wear that shoe during the Ravens game because it is not allowed under NFL guidelines. But his biggest problem will be this: Because he is not able to drop back as well as he would like, Roethlisberger is not be able to take a lot of snaps under center and a might have to line in the shotgun most of the time. Typically, Roethlisberger lines in the shotgun maybe only 30 percent of the time. Roethlisberger said he can throw OK because his lead foot is his left foot. But it will be dropping back and moving around that presents the biggest problem.

You really think that what Rooney or Tomlin said warrants a fine from the league?

Tomlin's comments: noBut if the article is accurate and Rooney said that the NFL is targeting the Steelers, then past precedent indicates that they should be fined.
