Rolando Mcclain (1 Viewer)

Ok i have to pick my keepers does anyone know how much of the season mcclain will miss this year with his gun charge? I assume godell will probably suspend him for 3 years knowing him. On a serious note let me know if anyone has info

a) He doesn't suck

b) I doubt he gets his suspension until legal troubles resolve themselves, which will probably be over next offseason. I would guess that he'll get a 4 game suspension in 2013, but right now no one knows anything.

Thank you for the update. I think i will hold onto him for the future at least this year he is a number 4 on my roster so no harm. Last year was a down year but i expect a good rebound this year baring him staying on the field.

Rolando is not a bad player, he's been getting way too much flack for his on field play, basically because he was drafted top 10. Has he lived up to his draft status no, does he suck, most def. not. He may be a ####### off the field, he wouldn't be the first to fall into that category, he's not making my fav players list, but when it comes to fantasy that doesn't matter. As for him having a down year last year? I'm not sure I've ever heard of a 2nd year player having a down year, especially when it was better than his rookie season...

Ok i figured he should of been a 120 tackle guy with maybe 2ints and 5 sacks. Instead he was at 77solo 22 assist with no ints and 5 sacks. He wasnt horrible but he should have been a lot better concidering there is not a dominant tackler there. Morrison averaged 126 tackles in the middle and 1 int and 1 sack a game. Morrison also had 6 forced fumbles and 4 recoveries. I like mcclain but i need him to become a tackle monster be a patrick willis, daqwell jackson and ray lewis i need him as a ball hawk.

The guy can't shed blocks and he can't cover. He made a huge improvement in his second year from his rookie year in both categories, but he was still plagued by the same problems. It's the reason why he's never going to be the tackle monster you wish for nor some ball hawk. He'll shed a nice block for a tackle here or there or give you a good pass deflection once in awhile, but he'll always be an 80 solo tackle guy. It would be nice if he had the potential to be some big play maker or some big tackler, but he doesn't. For a top 10 pick, he sucks. For fantasy, he's middle of the pack. Why would I take middle of the pack when I can take another guy who is also middle of the pack but has the potential to breakout into a superstar? Not only that, the ####er is going to prison for what he did. So in other words, he sucks ###.

Not a Raiders homer, but what has been the story with McClain this season? Thought he was going to take another step forward with the new scheme, but from Stat lines and the blurb I read that he tweaked an ankle, he hasn't been productive.

Any hope for folks holding on to him?

Only if you have a deep bench, he turned it on at the end of the season last year loggin 7 or more tackles the last five games. He has favorable IDP matchups coming up week 6-10.

wow

Oakland Raiders LB Rolando McClain (head) played with a concussion in the team's Week 2 game. He stayed on the field, never missing a snap. The concussion was only diagnosed after the game. "It was something we thought might have been the case after the game," head coach Dennis Allen said. "But it didn't seem like it was a major one ... It's kind of a precautionary deal that we're going through the whole process to make sure he's fine."

STOP THE PRESSES

Miles Burris & Philip Wheeler played in the nickel packages yesterday, only 18 snaps for Rolando

I saw the same thing and was pissed yesterday. I'm about to drop McClain. He only played on base packages. Wheeler is the guy to have on Oakland's defense.

Wow a young fast stud who cant play the pass time to drop him what a waste of talent. Tried to use him this year as a 4th lb but not the case an not a keeper with a possible suspension still looming next year.

Former Bama LB Rolando McClain no longer with OAK. He writes: I'm gonna weigh my options. Looking forward to playing for an actual 'team'.

Rolando McClain “no longer an Oakland Raider” (update)

All signs point to Raiders middle linebacker Rolando McClain being cut Thursday. He was on the field for the start of practice then left due to “team-related issues,” Raiders coach Dennis Allen said.

McClain later posted this on what some local and Alabama reporters think is his Facebook wall: “Officially no longer an Oakland Raider!!”

McClain later posted a clarification: “Well technically I am. But I’m mentally done. Just waiting on my papers.”

The thread was then erased at about 3:35 p.m.

Kyle Burger, a sports reporter/anchor at WVTM-TV, earlier tweeted that “(McClain) writes: ‘I’m gonna weigh my options. Looking forward to playing for an actual ‘team.’

The Raiders have not already waived McClain as the waiver deadline for today passed, and he was not on the list.

The team’s only comment is that McClain is still on the roster.

Allen wouldn’t offer up any details or comments on the matter after practice. When asked if McClain would be back at practice Thursday, Allen said, “I don’t know that.”

McClain was the eighth overall pick — and the last of longtime Raiders owner Al Davis — in the 2010 draft. He has struggled so far in his career and has had his playing time sharply reduced after the fourth game of the season. McClain was recently cleared of assault, menacing, and discharging a fire arm chargers in Alabama — after originally being sentenced to 180 days and appealing.

He is due to have a salary cap number of $6.675 million in ’13, $8.475 million in ’14 and $5.085 million in ’15.

Omar Gaither, who the Raiders signed Nov. 14, appears to be the only man standing on the roster at middle linebacker and would step in for McClain. He was a fifth-round pick of the Eagles in 2006 and spent this year’s training camp with the Texans, but he was never put on their 53-man roster.

The Raiders will be Gaither’s third team in his six year career. The Tennessee alumnus played his first five seasons for the Eagles, and last year, was a member of the Panthers, playing in 10 games and recording 31 total tackles.

Was just thinking about this...

I'm not sure I'd entirely rule out the possibility that Phillip Wheeler gets a look in the middle or the Raiders run some goofy Big Nickel as a base package with Dennis Allen. Definitely don't see much value in Gaither. He hasn't been durable enough to last more than a game or two in the past 2-3 seasons when inserted in the lineup in any capacity.

Raiders MLB Rolando McClain announced on his Facebook page that he is "officially no longer an Oakland Raider."

McClain added, "Well, technically I am. But I'm mentally done. Just waiting on my papers." The linebacker later removed the posts, but it sounds as if the Raiders are about to cut ties with the No. 8 overall pick from the 2010 draft.

You really wanted to drive that post home, huh? :) J/K

I think the bigger question is, who gets the shot at MLB for the Raiders. Just was looking at the current depth at the LB position and the Raiders don't have much. Gaither has never been very good and seems unlikely he takes over, too bad Goethel got hurt yet again as it would have been nice to see him get a shot. Maybe they just stick with 2 LB's and bring Mitchell on more, he has good speed and is a big hitter, maybe he plays something similar to Bryan Scott in Buffalo.

What's the potential impact on Miles Burris? Any change?

I'd second this thought, seems like a logical solution would be Mitchell playing nickel/dime LB and Gaither or someone else in base either as MLB or WLB with Wheeler moving inside....all speculation of course, and they weren't happy with Mitchell at the begining of the season, but I do know they liked how Mitchell has improved this season, but he is blocked at SS by Branch. Mitchell's skill set doesn't translate well to FS.
