:towelwave:

Their lives have been forever altered by these events, they will never be their happy go lucky selves... now they can barely eat.

This guy should be disbarred:

District attorney Jerry Jones, via KNOE 8 News, has his explanation, which does not echo the "insufficient evidence" rationale cited in official documents:

"I want to emphasize once again that the main reason I'm doing this is that I refuse to ruin the lives of two young men who have spent their adolescence and teenage years, working and sweating, while we were all in the air conditioning."

He cited lack of evidence. Did the cops smoke the pot then pitch the stolen gun in the river?
Which prompts a question to the lawyer folk here at FBG. If Joe Nobody is arrested today under the same circumstances and they decide to press charges, is there any recourse for the obvious lack of consistency?

Depends.  Do they have nick saban making phone calls for them?

I was about to post something along the lines of "if he consistently applies that philosophy to young people who don't actually harm anyone, I'm sort of okay with this"

Probably both. I assume they are fat in Alabama.
:boxing:    (btw, this was in Louisiana)

If this was just a MJ charge I think that would all be kosher. But add in the (stolen) gun and give me a ####### break.

If Hillary Clinton gets special treatment from the Justice system what is wrong with a couple of good ol boys getting special treatment?

It is pretty racist for anybody to object to this if they are voting for Hillary.

I would probably be fat if I lived in LA. Lots of good eating there.

That's what it ended up being.  Having possession of a firearm is not illegal in LA, and they'd have to prove he bought a stolen gun knowing it was stolen...hence the insufficient evidence.  That charge was not going to stick.

So being 1st-time offenders a possession charge would be minor...so they saved everyone time and money and moved on.

This was the story from the beginning...not a surprise at all for people following it.

Oh ok then.

Having a firearm while in possession of narcotics is a felony whether the gun was stolen or not.  The evidence was in their laps.   I didn't think much would come of this,  but dropping the charges stinks to high heaven.   The DAs reasoning is really, really strange.
