I'd be happy with a spin-off series that just consisted of Pullo and Vorenus kicking butt every week.

Pullo is

A wonderful series that is ending too soon. Almost as good as it gets. HBO did right with this one. A shame it proved too costly to continue for a third season.

Great episode! That worm with the curly-Q hair that seduced Varenus' daughter got his too. Axe right into the breadbasket! Funny, it was always Pullo who was trying to talk Varenus into peaceful negotiations. What will he do to that madaam when he finds out she killed his wife?

Pullo has a freakin steel plate in his head. But, he still head butts that guy into near unconscousness? Oh well, that's Hollywood Italian style for ya! Pullo rules.

As everything raps up, are they going to kill everyone off or are they going to do some 'live happily ever after' crap?

Hopefully the just do two normal episodes with neither of those and just leave us hanging.

Not sure if they'll have time to end it the way things happened (at least with Caesar, Antony and Cleopatra). I wonder how much they knew about this being the final season before ending filming?

With the previews from next week, it looks like they sort of combined a few of the real life years in the last episode and the one coming up, so I wouldn't be surprised if they got to that point.

I couldn't agree more. The worst words I've heard in a long time are "Only 2 more episodes". :lmao:

I'm guessing yes- and fatally.I flat-out love the show, so take this with a grain of salt- I think the writing/story-telling has suffered slighlt in the last few episodes as it "rushes" to finish up. Don't get me wrong- still written and told well, just feels like things are happening between the characters that seem to need more time to flesh out.

Who am I kidding... it's frigging brilliant- just ending too damn soon! :lmao:

That's what I thought when this season started, but I don't think so now, at least not to the death. They'd rather kill themselves than each other. And no one mentioned that last night's was by far the most booby-rific episode yet. 3 different sets and they all looked fabulisimo!

I thought that was a great scene when Vorinus is telling Caesarion about his father... who is actually Pullo. Octavian eventually murders Caesarion... but as far as the series goes, all Pullo had to do was to tell Octavian that the kid was his. This last epsisode should have been a two hour special. Ther is an awful lot to jam into 60 minutes now. The Battle of Acctium, the Pullo/Vorenus confrontation (they were careful to not show either character in the preview) suicides of Antony and Cleopatra, etc.

Frankly, I find it a bit hard to swallow that HBO has to keep killing their best shows (Deadwood) claiming it's too expensive. These character actors are cheap compared to the whole Soprano's series... and if the sets are already built, why is it too expensive? Especailly when the BBC is sharing the cost?

Ummm- I know it's from history and all. but some of us can't remember what they ate for dinner last night, let alone what I... I mean they learned from High School history classes. A lil' less spoilage next time, please.

Oh... there is no next time- :goodposting:

Er.... sorry about that... I figured anyone watching probably knew the history. But, that doesn't mean they will follow history. Octavian's mother was long dead by the time all this stuff happens. That, and the fact that Caesarion is Pullo's kid is entirely fictional... so they may have some surprise twists in there yet. Both Brutus and Cassius had their slaves kill them, they didn't die in battle the way the series depicts it. So, they could rewrite history again...

Great episode. Really, the best of the season IMO. At least now we can see the necessity for switching the actors who play Octavian, as the passage of years would have been much harder to sell now than in previous episodes. Nice set on Octavian's wife  Great scene between Vorenus and Antony, where Vorenus relays the message from Octavia. And the scene with Pullo and the whore was very intense. All around fantastic epiosde.

I also agree that we will probably see a Vorenus/Pullo showdown. I think Pullo realized it right when Octavian asked him to accompany him, which is why he seemed hesitant. I also hope the last episode is a longer special, because it seems like there are a lot of storylines to tie up in a short remaining time.

I forget- did the Romans use Silicon or Saline?

Yea- did not think she was very attractive before that scene..... she is hotter than she appears.

;) Not saying the didn't look droolingly good, but the tongue biting scene was a lot more realistic looking than those gravity defying silos.

****MILD SPOILER ALERT****When Octavian is telling Pullo that Caesarion will have to be killed because Antony names him the king-in-waiting of Rome, I thought they sort of tried to kill a fly with a sledgehammer. They went to a lot of trouble to have Octavian spell out the whole thing, then you have to see the over-wrought reaction on Pullo's face. I thought that was a little bit cheesy. I mean, how could Pullo even know if the child was actually his? He spent one night with Cleopatra. What, now he's a doctor and knows about dates of conception, etc? And I'd be willing to bet that they're going to work in the "Pullo intervening on his child's behalf" angle. They've already killed off Pullo's wife and child and made a big deal out of Pullo's killing of the whore after she reveals that she was the one who poisoned them. In the final episode, I could see Octavian attempting to kill Caesarion, Pullo intervenes, and is killed by Octavian or his guards. Too bad that this series is ending, just as it was with Carnivale and Deadwood. With the vast popularity of these shows, I also find it strange that they keep ending them after short runs.

Have they ever shown Gaia's hoots? I don't remember seeing them bare but they look fake under clothes.
THe slave chick?Yes, they showed them, and yeah, they are real.

Um...the whore/madam chick that killed Pullo's wife...
Right, that's who I thought. Real.

 It's better to burn out than fade away but I'm need more Rome than tonights end of the run
:hot: ................... That was jawdroppingly good. Far better than any movie I've seen in recent memory. Between Rome and BSG last night, TV kicked Hollywood's rump up and down media-land.I can't believe it's over- so we get a little bit more Sopranos, and then it's :bye: HBO.

An absolutely fantastic series - eventhough I thought it went out with a bit of a whimper last night for the finale. I was a little dissapointed Vorenus went out like that.

HBO always pisses me off by cancelling these shows - but maybe that's what makes them so good?

Dream On

Band of Brothers

Rome

Deadwood

Did Vorenus actually die at the end of the show? He looked like he died several times after he was stabbed then he would open his eyes again. Looked like he opened his eyes again at the very end. Maybe a sliver of a chance for the show to continue?

Damn I hate that they are killing this show and it has me grasping for straws. :bag:

It was very vague. He certainly didn't look good at all but they never showed him actualy dead. He thought he was a goner though.
