Ronnie Brown injury (1 Viewer)

On Yahoo: His hand was X-rayed, but Miami coach Nick Saban would not say if it was broken. "He does have an issue and he does have a problem, we just don't know the prognosis," said Saban, adding the team would release details about the injury on Friday.

Seems odd that if the x-rays were neagative why they would not say so. I can't remember a time this year that a player who was x-rayed and it was negative that they did not not say it right away.

Fromthe replays it looks similar to Tiki's game keepers thumb sprain. His thumb was caught on Sims' helmet and bent backward. I don't know how bad it is, and will probably have to wait for an MRI, but it should not keep him from missing any time with Miami in the hunt again for a wild card.

Hey how about this....Sammy Morris looked great today....

I'll go ahead and say it. WE WANT SAMMY MORRIS! ;)

X-rays revealed that Ronnie Brown broke his hand during Thursday's win over Detroit. Brown says he likely will need surgery Monday.

Brown says he fractured the first metacarpal. The Palm Beach Post compares Brown's injury to that of safety Travares Tillman, who recently had hand surgery and may only miss one game because of the procedure. Sammy Morris will take over as Miami's starter if Brown misses any time, and probably split carries with Travis Minor.

I'm now giving thanks for having picked up Morris last week when Brown had a sore groin.

This is like the WORST juxtoposition of giving thanks ever.

missing 1 game isn't the end of the world, they'll get the surgery done asap, and then he has two weeks before its meaningful to anybody for the fantasy playoffs

Funnily, I have Portis and Brown. Both broke their hands late in the season... when I need them most. I'm not laughing.

Can Fargas and Morris carry me? Thank goodness I've got LJ and Maroney, I'll have to let them know to watch their hands.

Is missing one game, or basically two weeks of healing enough time for his hand to heal to play effectively in Week 14? I hope so, but I find it hard to believe. A RB uses his hands much more and takes alot more abuse on his hands than a safety, so I am skeptical of Brown only missing one week.

I am with you top self. Tied for first. Comming down the home stretch. Losing Portis and Brown back-to-back. I am not happy.

MJD, Jacobs, Droughns to carry me.

Hello offseason.

Yeah, sucks having a top 10 RB...
on your bench the last half of the season...
I was responding to a person who implied that Brown has not helped up to this point. As to your "input", sucks having him injured, but that does not take away from what he has done thus far.You new here?

I think the earlier post about a RB using his hands a LOT more than a safety hit the nail on the head. Or hand.

I wouldn't be surprised if this was more than 1 game....and I work at a hospital so I know stuff about hands. ;)

Miami Homers or Footballguys reporters, want to do some digging and find out if its broken hand or ligament damage. Apparently the newspapers are reporting what Ronnie Brown said and that is THOUGHT it was a break and that it was revealed today that it wasn't

Where was it revealed today that it wasn't a break? Also, pardon me for being stupid, I'm not a doctor, but which is the worse scenario: a break or ligament damage?

A break mean unless he can actually in a cast he is likley finished for the seasonligament damage - he could actually play next week if he can handle the pain .

I am no doctor and did not sleep in a Holiday Inn Express last night, but I would be potentially concerned about ligament damage. That can affect his ability to hold onto the ball and could linger for an extended period of time, if severe enough. A break could be corrected with surgery (a la TO) to allow Brown to get back on the field in a few weeks assuming he won't need a cast (a la TO).

Wait and see, I suppose.

Dolphins RB R. Brown Breaks Hand

Greg A. Bedard, Palm Beach Post - [Full Article]

X-rays on Thursday confirmed that Miami Dolphins running back Ronnie Brown suffered a broken hand during the team's Week 12 game against the Detroit Lions. Brown said after the game that he believed he fractured the first metacarpal bone (between the wrist and fingers) and will likely will need surgery to stabilize the injury. No additional information is currently available.

Looks like the local media is reporting it as a break, to bad has he was really coming on.

yeah that's the same article i posted up at the top of the thread, it makes no mention of x-rays, media keeps reporting it, but nobody has mentioned anything about x-rays, so take it with a grain of salt. also, saban's comments after the game where he said there is something wrong, but they don't know the prognosis has me believe it must be ligaments. the prognosis of a broken hand is pretty straight forward, x-rays show its broken. however, an mri and an analysis by a specialist would have give the prognosis for ligament damage and maybe that's what they are waiting for.

I am guessing you have never had ligament damage?

It was reported on SC this a.m.

(on second thought, it might have been the NFL-N.)

Dolphins running back Ronnie Brown had surgery Friday to repair his broken left hand, the team announced. The Dolphins did not specify a timetable for Brown's return, but the normal recovery time is one to four weeks.

Coach Nick Saban was not made available to the media. His game-after press conference will be Saturday at 1 p.m.

Brown fractured the second metacarpal in his left hand in the third quarter of Thursday's 27-10 victory over the Detroit Lions. Stong safety Travares Tillman had a similar procedure done to the fourth metacarpal in his left hand on Monday and Saban said "it was not a long-term thing." Tillman could be back for Sunday's game against the Jaguars.

...

Likely similar procedure to Clinton Portis, Terrell Owens, etc. where pain tolerance and grip strength will determine return to play.

This can affect him without question, but I believe he normally carries the ball in the other hand, FWIW.

Sure, catching the ball and "covering up" will be issues, but I'm just saying he could play in a protective cast for the game.

And he could use it as a battering club...

No, it doesn't take away from what he's done... I'll give you two guesses as to what it does take away from though...I'll give you a hint... "the last half of the season"By the way, too lazy to read the "join date" under my name? Or do you routinely spout off half-witted posts?

So does this officially make Portis a wuss or is it more likely that WAS being out of the playoff race chose to put Clinton on IR now to heal him up for next season?

(Rotoworld) Ronnie Brown underwent surgery on his hand Friday and will likely return after missing one game, according to the Palm Beach Post.

Impact: The paper's report suggested Brown would have an outside chance to play against the Jaguars in their game. All in all, this is good news for Brown owners. He should be back for the fantasy playoffs.

PRAY!!!
