Rookie DLs (1 Viewer)

I am in a mixed dyno league. Very competetive, and my weakest defensive position is DL. Who are your top 5 DLs coming into the league this year in terms of situation mixed with talent.

This could be the year for my guys to make a run, but I need an upgrade at DL

Two players I really like....

OAK- Quintin Moses. He should start right away on the side opposite Burgess, and flew under the radar in my two dynasty rookie drafts. I was able to get him at 4.1 and 4.11 between the two leagues. (16 team leagues) He was the first pick in the 3rd round by Oakland (3.1).

DET- Alama-Francis. He is a bit of a project, and could be a DT after all is said and done, but the Lions took him at 2.26 and especially if he stays at DE could be a very solid pickup in a year or two. I took him in the fifth round in one league. He's a player for your taxi squad this year, but has great upside, especially in leagues that start DT's and DE's seperately.

Those are my two value picks for DL this year, but I was also able to get Jamal Anderson at 3.1 in one of those leagues, and he's all but a sure starter in Atlanta. 4-3 DE's are getting harder to come by, but I like these three as value picks in rookie drafts this year.

Gaines Adams TB if you get good sack numbers

Jamaal Anderson Atl

Both should be starters soon.

Spencer in Dallas could be a contributor in Dallas as well.

Moses

Francis

Charles Johnson Carolina

:lmao: Good listI like these guys as well but I not as sure about Spencer.Little deeper, I think Crowder may prove to be better than Moss in Den and Woodly could be a stud once they move to a 4-3 and even playing OLD in the 3-4 (if listed as a DE) will help his value.Bazuin in Chi may get a shot if they trade a DE.

Will Spencer be moved to OLB? And is there a chance he stays at DE in the MFL database?
Spencer is an OLB. He's currently behind Greg Ellis on the depth chart but will see plenty of time in passing situations, even if that holds through training camp. There's always a chance that the MFL database won't reflect his true position. However, if the news that Roger Goodell is requiring accurate official depth charts is valid, I think this loophole will be a thing of the past except in clear hybrid situations where a given player gets just as many snaps at one position as another. That won't be the case with Spencer. As long as Dallas plays a base 3-4, Spencer is a LB.

Since it's too early to tell if these guys will actually play DT, or DE, or LB, I'm throwing this name into the pool:

Baraka Atkins - 6'4", 278 lbs.

According to NFL.com, he's athletic enough and big enough to play DE in a 3-4 or DT in a 4-3. He has good quicks and is very intelligent (double major). Is an effective pass rusher but is more effective in run stopping. Does well taking on multiple blockers.

The biggest negative on him was that he will try to get out of work. He learns quickly but thinks that he doesn't have to go through the motions if he understands what he is supposed to do.

I'm hoping he grows out of the negative work ethic, but it certainly sounds like he has the athletic ability to excel.

He had a good showing at the Seahawks rookie camps recently.
