Rookie Wide Receivers - Career Outlooks (1 Viewer)

The top three receivers taken in the draft this year were Santonio Holmes, Chad Jackson, and Sinorice Moss. What do you think of each player's future in the NFL? Also, who do you think will make the biggest impact as a rookie?

Out of these three, I think Holmes will be the best player. He proved his game at Ohio St. and will team up with Roethlisberger for a wicked tandem. Jackson has insane speed, but he wasn't remarkable at Florida. I fear that he may be a workout warrior who doesn't live up to expectations in the NFL. Moss can be a solid player. He'll have to make his living as an uber-breakaway threat, much like his brother.

Jackson looks the most impressive in highlights. His college career was a bit disappointing, but he was a top recruit out of high school, has great physical skills, and is going to a team with little competition at WR and a good scouting department. I don't think he'll make much noise in 2006, but I think he's the best long-term gamble out of this year's crop.

After that, it's a toss-up between Holmes and Hagan. Holmes was the highest draft pick and is going to an excellent team with an excellent scouting department. Nevertheless, I'm not sure that he'll ever be the number one WR for his team. I think the more likely scenario is that he develops into a fringe WR1 in the mold of TJ Houshmandzadeh or Terry Glenn. He could have a solid career, but I don't see stardom in his future. He just doesn't have enough special qualities. That said, I think he'll lead all rookies in receiving yards next year.

Hagan is my dark horse pick to be the best WR from this class. There are some concerns about his hands, but he has good all-around skills and was a dominant force in college. He reminds me a lot of Muhsin Muhammad and I could see him having similar success if he works hard and remains somewhat consistent.

I just drafted Jackson at 1.08 in our rookie draft. He was the first wr taken.

This is ppr league and from what I read about Jackson he has superb concentration, makes tough catches in traffic and has speed to take it home.

If Brady makes him a go to guy he just might be the best of the three.
