Rookie WR's at the 1/4 mark (1 Viewer)

There were 7 WR's taken in the first 2 rounds of the draft. With their rookie year 25% behind them I thought I'd put their numbers together and see how things look.

Draft #.....Player.......................Team.................Games......Targets.......Catches.......Yards........TD's......Catch%....YPC

01.05.......Justin Blackmon.......Jacksonville...........4...............25...............10...............79.............0............40%.......7.9

01.13.......Michael Floyd...........Arizona..................4...............11................5................43.............1.............45%.......8.6

01.20.......Kendall Wright..........Tennessee............4...............33...............18..............148............2.............55%.......8.2

02.01.......Brian Quick...............St. Louis................2................4.................1................19.............0.............25%.......19

02.11.......Stephen Hill..............NY Jets.................3................15................5................89.............2.............33%.....17.8

02.13.......Alshon Jeffery..........Chicago.................4................19...............12..............164............1.............63%.....13.6

02.31.......Rueben Randle........NY Giants..............4................4.................1.................4...............0.............25%.......4

While I've seen some highlights I haven't gotten to watch many of these players from kickoff to final gun. Obviously some of them have landed in good spots (Arizona, Chicago, NY Giants) where they can avoid the #1 coverage. Others couldn't have found a worse spot (Jacksonville, NY Jets). Which players are currently under/over-performing, and which do you think are about to make the next step?

I really think this class is about to start doing more. They didn't have the top end guys or like you said, they landed in not so ideal locations. It is going to take more patience with them. I am scooping up a couple in my dynasty leagues as owners are starting to get antsy for the flavor of the week guys.

Thanks for posting this info. Very helpful!

Some information on this topic in this thread that highlights the rookie WR class:

My link

Also you forgot to include supplemental draft pick Josh Gordon from Cleveland in the above list and I think he is one of the rookies in this class who will emerge and he should have a chance this Sunday for more receiving attempts due to injuries in the Browns receiving corps.

Thanks for the link, I don't know how I missed that thread. My original post actually belongs in there instead of being a new topic. :bag:

Not to hijack, but it looks like this was a good year to grab a QB. Luck and RG3 are no brainers, but Tannehill is really starting to come on. In QB heavy leagues all three of those guys may be better picks than all the WRs in this class. Certainly Luck and RG3 are better choices in dynasty.

Weeden may be underrated at this point mostly due to the fact his WRs can't catch. Wilson looked great in preseason, but obviously has come back down to earth now. It may just take a little grooming for him.

Jeffrey and Wright way above the rest of the class. Not terribly surprising.

I think Blackmon puts together a few respectable performances but will top out at what-the-heck-flex this year. Hill has a great opportunity if he can get it together, and if Tebow starts, could be the Demaryus Thomas of last year. The rest I don't think are rosterable in redraft.

Curious as to what the general feeling (especially from Detroit homers) is on 2nd round draft pick Ryan Broyles. I know he's recovering from a torn ACL and originally thought he'd miss half the season, but I think I saw him get a target (which he dropped) last week. I recall him being generally well thought of when he was drafted, possibly a first round talent if not for the injury. I'm casting about for a high upside flyer in a dynasty league and he came to mind.

Anyone with any insight into his progress, talent level, and what role if any he might find on the field this year or even next?

how quickly things change....Gordon barely mentioned just a couple weeks back and he'll likely be the rookie wr this year and possibly of this class going forward.

I don't see how he's better than Wright?
If I had to choose now I'd choose him 2nd....the main difference to me being the big play ability. Gordon may just be scratching the surface which is scary.

The Jeffery injury is disappointing. I believe he would have continued to trend up as the season progressed. Hope he comes back sooner than later.

Wright hasn't been used deep at all but I think that's more a function of how the team sucks at QB and doesn't really have the juice to go deep. I think he'll turn into a nice option going forward. I like Wright a bit more than Gordon right now but Gordon has that size you look for in a true WR1.

I agree. Wright looks good as well, I just really fall in love with the measurables guys...big, strong, fast. He has some work to do (more than most) and a lot to learn but he's really young, supposedly very bright and has great talent. He just needs to not smoke pot and he should have a good long career.
