Roster Cloggers (1 Viewer)

I’m kind of amazed I’m sitting in third place with the second most points with the garbage on my roster. I don’t think I’m alone. Who has players you hate starting, you can’t get any value for, and they’re too good to cut?

DeVante Parker - should be healthy any day now, that break out is coming. The situation is so bad, Cutler returning is viewed as a positive.

Devin Funchess - had a brief run, targets and production declined three straight weeks with no end in sight. What really hurts is I warned others about this mirage.

Joe Mixon - tallest midget in the room. Has been getting relative volume, doing very little with it despite week after week of plus matchups.

Doug Martin - great debut all things consisdered, scored again the second week back, and now in PPR wasteland. Very TD dependent (& a great back IRL.)

Witten - because Eifert, next question. Been spot starting him and ASJ has been a decent fill in as well. But I wish I could cut both of them.

My ABC “studs” are Allen, Bell, and Cooks. Guess you know how that’s going. Lost the other Cooks but man it just feels like I can’t depend on anyone on my squad. Def not counting on anything other than making the playoffs.

Who do you hate on your team?

My rbs suck imo. Hate starting CMC every week. Obviously I'm dying at QB

Need Butker to outscore Fowler tonight for a W

If those guys are my bench options/bye week fillers I am more then happy. Funchess was a waiver pickup who is not smoke and mirrors but suffers from mediocre QB play. Martin was drafted 2 to 4 rounds lower then he should have and Mixon has a high talent level whose opportunity is being stifled by the awfulness of Marvin Lewis. If you don’t like them attempt to package them for an upgrade but it’s far better then suffering through the likes of Bennie Fowler or Orleans Darkwa.

For the record Derrick Henry is the kind of player I consider a roster clogger. You’re damned if you cut him and Murray goes down but you’re also damned if you try to slip him in your lineup to cover byes or for a good matchup.

More like the key to your run if circumstances change; I had a good team in 2015, but when Bell went down, DeAngelo was a monster.

I want to cut Lynch, but nothing out there is good enough + I don't want him to come to life & another team uses him against me

I get it. But I only play redraft. Noone is trading for funchess or Mixon in redraft now

Eta: 'for'

Yeah, this is def a redraft topic.

Ameer Abdullah is like the poster child for roster cloggers. Very seldom gets red zone touches, loses passing downs to Theo. Flashed against the Vikings & every week he makes something out of nothing a couple times. You keep thinking the production is coming, but it never does.

Love the term! When I saw the topic, the first name that popped into my head was Hilton, although I don't even own him.

Forte and Dion Lewis and Darkwa...I will need to cut one of these guys, probably Darkwa. They are all guys that have some value but I would never want to start.

Cut Forte, you will thank me later
You are probably right. I mean I am considering these guys my "when in emergency break glass" guys. Darkwa has more upside but isn't there also the chance if I ever have to start him, he doesn't even touch the ball?

I would nominate Sammy Watkins, but calling him a roster clogger would probably be generous.
Watkins should be clogging your roster like diarrhea clogs your toilet. He was dropped in my 14-teamer weeks ago and no one has bothered to pick him up.

I'm starting him this week to cover a bye. That said, he's not a clogger because you can drop him without to much angst. Compare that to someone like Hilton.

Now that I think of it, isn't David Johnson the ultimate roster clogger? It's very likely he won't be a fantasy contributor ROS, but no one is willing to drop him because they assume (rightly) that he'd immediately get picked up if they put him on the WW. Anyone other than DJ would have been dropped long ago.

Crowell.
Maybe up to this point but have a feeling he just turned a corner and will reward your patience.

For me, it’s TyMo. Seems solidly passed on depth chart, not sure what his usage is or even if he’s truly healthy. Can’t start him, and would have a hard time dropping him at this point.

Also got dropped in my 14-teamer (0.5 PPR) prior to his bye. Still on the WW. I thought about it, but the emergence of Jones plus Rodgers' injury makes him pretty dicey.

I get the loss aversion. But if I were you I'd probably bail.

Bruce Arians bringing the Drano!
