Roster Limits (1 Viewer)

Our league mandates that you must have 2 QBs, 4 RBs, 5 WR/TE combo, 2 DEF, 2 Ks. How many other leagues do this? Personally, I hate this rule, but we voted and it stayed the same. Just wondering...

We have similar limits (3QB, 5RB, 5WR, 2TE, 2PK, 2DF) with one flex spot that you can assign to any position. I think it makes it more challenging to maintain a solid roster, which IMO is a good thing. Hogging all the high upside RBs is boring.

Must have 2QB 4RB 5WR 2TE 2K 2D and 5 reserves of any position, no more, no less.

I'd rather it be more open, but not really worth arguing about.

We just have position maximums. Max of 4RB, 6WR, 3TE, 3D, 3K, etc You can decide how you want to fill up your 16 man roster though. The only problem with it as I see it is it doesn't allow for much RB depth. We start 1 RB and 1 flex (usually a RB), so you only have 1 slot you can use for backups/handcuffs. This allows the weaker teams to jump on backups when the studs go down.

I must say, all the leagues I'm in have roster limits, so I can't speak about the other side, but I am actually a fan of the limits. Particularly because I've had those years devastated by injury and the roster limits ensured that I still had a chance to be competitive on the free agent wire without having to trade the whole rest of my team. Roster limits and weekly money for high point total have been my two favorite changes to the leagues I'm in as they help maintain competiveness, IMO of course.

10 team league and we have to have 3QBs...only 2 starters on the WW, 5 RBs...Wali Lundy is available but do I cut Barlow or TBell for him? I have no place to put him. 6WRs...we start 3. 2TE, 2Def, 2Pk...It's hard but when we voted to change things, many in the league said they would drop out because they liked the challenge that limited rosters make...sort of a we already have that in our other leagues...

We don't have them and I am glad we don't.
:goodposting: I never have a backup TE or D, and I've been known to go weeks without a kicker.
Just a tip: I've read in several places that in head-to-head play it's silly to up a 0 at K just to hang on to 5th RB who is a handcuff/backup/long shot, etc. because IF he plays it means:1) The other RBs you were counting on are hurt and your likely in trouble anyway as a result.2) The 1 game he might help you win, you've negated by the game you lost when your would-be kicker scored 11 points...while sitting on the waiver wire.3) The trade you could have made with that 5th RB to a team that is short almost never materializes.4) There's no guarantee that that 5th RB won't get hurt before you need him anyway. His chances of going down are generally just as good as the 4 RBs ahead of him.Sorry for the hijack...now, back to our regularly scheduled thread...

:goodposting: Roster limits, while not realistic when compared to the NFL, do a few "NFL"y things:1) Help maintain league balance (as illustrated above).2) Create a pseudo-salary cap (which IS in the NFL) by not allowing teams to hoard players at any one valuable position.
