Roy Williams suspended 1 game (1 Viewer)

ridiculous

Goodell should have them take off the pads and play two-hand touch so nobody gets hurt.

I am pretty sure Dikta would not feel the same way.Might as well put the flags on at this point. :lmao:
I don't care how Dikta feels
Thats why he has "Limp" in front of Ditka, how fitting. :lmao:

Just curious why you feel this way. Williams has a history of breaking legs and careers by employing this tactic. Usually using it because he is badly beat. Now yesterday he horse collars McNabb who almost didnt get the feet out, which may have likely put him back on the injured list.I remember watching Joey Browner basically end Sammy Winders career on a horse collar (before it was called that). Winder was never the same..

Dang.. I liked my sarcastic answer better.. what a bunch of buffoons (except you and me) on this thread.

Its about time. He does not get it. One more and he would be out of the playoffs. How many times do you have to tell a guy not to do something? I know at my job i would have been gone 2 times ago.

Roy really needs to learn the art of gently wrapping his arms around players, asking nicely if they'll go down first, and then, if met with resistance, carefully kneeling the person to the ground so as to avoid any possible harm to his opponent.

He should just treat opponents as one would fine china.

What career has Roy ended?
Good point - simple bone breaks and ligament tears shouldn't count...
People tear ligaments without even getting hit in football? you new to watching it?

HOW 'BOUT THEM COWBOYS!!!
If you think Roy is the only one in the NFL who does this than you dont watch many games.

Yes, we all think he's the only one. BTW, mr hardcore football guy, know of anyone that's been flagged for it twice let alone 3 times this year like Roy Williams has?

I think the NFL should allow spearing. They all have pads on, right?
I thought tackling was allowed. If you saw the McNabb thing, he never threw his body under the guy's legs. Williams grabbed him by his jersey and brought him down. Didn't seem like it fit the definition of a horse collar tackle.

Well, this is good news! Good news that he will be back for the 'Skins game! :goodposting: Nothing says "I love you" more than Roy Williams trying to cover Santana Moss!

Tyrone Calico was never the same.
It could be argued that he wasn't much to begin with. But, the point's conceded. Roy did ruin what little career he had, anyway.

He is grabbing the back of the jersy, not the back of the shoulder pads. Jeez, should we have them play two hand touch, play all games in domes since they might get their wittle fingers cold playing outside? wow, just wow.

If you don't know the rules, then you don't watch many games.

Stupid rule, IMO... This is football... I guarantee there are FAR more injuries the result of tackles made at the knees. Should we outlaw those, as well?

Oh my, shouldnt you guys be at a ping-pong message board?
Or blocks in the back, how about that? You know what would be even better? Allow players to customize their uniforms. You know how awesome the game would be if Roy Williams could have sawblades on his forearms?
where do you want to stop? how about a couple holding penalties, or a couple false starts...should they be suspended then too?

I haven't seen too many guys getting hurt on false start penalties. But then you've obviously watched more football than I have.

Im outta this thread, too irritating for me.Holy Mother of Pearl :IBTL:

I'll leave you guys alone to throw daisy's and blow kisses at eachother.

When it happened, I thought he needed to be suspended.

It wasn't just "he grabbed him from behind trying to tackle him". He grabbed him, then threw himself to the ground so he'd roll up on the back of McNabbs legs. He's injured a ton of players, and it's not just Roy "trying to make a play". It's a dirty tackle, he does it on purpose. Next time he needs a 4 game suspension so it will sink in.

He's not just playing hardnosed football. He's playing cowards football. There are plenty of ways to tackle a guy without the high chance of injury. Seems EVERY freaking safety in the league has no problem tackling people. He basically grabs the collar, then throws himself at their lower body to drag them down and roll up on the player.

I was actually surprised none of the Eagles players slapped him in the head. McNabb was VERY lucky he was able to get his legs out from under Roy. The guy is a dirty player, without need. Play hard, hit hard, but don't use this BS moves thats only purpose are to cause injury.

And for the record I don't even mind head hunting over the middle. Or QBs getting hit hard. I'm all for old school football. But this is not even close to hard nose football. It's a wrestling move that causes injuries. It's not even football. It's like a CB jamming a WR and kicking him in the head with your cleats. It's not even a football move. It's grabbing a guys upper body then throwing your legs into his lower body bending him back over trying to break an ankle. It's just classless and offensive and I hope next time he gets a longer suspension.

I think that's what we're driving at here.Perhaps flag football might be too risky, too. People can blow out their knees juking or being juked.

Umm...he never rolled up the back of McNabb's legs.

Read through the first 10 replies or so... dismayed at the general intelligence and compassion for humans represented on the board.

The reason the play is penalized is because it could cause permanent and severe damage to the opposing player. It's not even remotely in the realm of holding. The reason head slaps, cut blocks, horse-collars were all banned is because the NFL actually cares to some degree about the health of their players - and quite frankly because it will to a deegree cut down on "disabled" players so the NFL doesn't have to worry so much about how much disabliity payments they will make. So on a financial AND human angle taking out those plays makes sense.

Additionally, the situation is not one where "oh he committed a minor penalty twice in a game" - it's a severe penalty, and he's been repeatedly penalized and fined (AFAIK) previously. So his continuance is being perceived as blatant disregard for the rules.

It's obvious by his moniker that Brutis is a fan of cowards so I'm starting to understand where he's coming from.
