Maybe he feels bad for screwing over a few of my teams last weekend, and he's depressed?!

1 more catch, or 4 more yards, and I'd still be in the Subscriber Contest. Not that I'm bitter or anything. :hot:

I'm guessing that he plays. If he was more hurt He'd likely be listed as queestionable.
Roy Should play http://www.detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/artic.../610130394/1004

From the top of the depth chart to the bottom, the Lions receiving corps is getting crowded with the promotion of rookie Devale Ellis from the practice squad and the likely return of Roy Williams .

Williams is expected to return today after missing two days to tend to a personal matter.

There is some question about his status for Sunday's game against Buffalo because of a back injury suffered in last week's loss at Minnesota.

The injury was described as a stinger, and Williams did not play again. Still, coach Rod Marinelli thinks Williams will be healthy enough to face the Bills.

"It sounds like that," Marinelli said after practice Thursday. "He feels like that. The trainers have to look at him and get him going."

With Williams available, and the staff enamored of Ellis' speed, Mike Williams likely will be demoted again.

"This is the time of year that you've got a chance to look at some of these young players," Marinelli said of Ellis.

There are seven receivers on the active roster. At the most, six will be active Sunday, and there might be five.

Roy Williams, Mike Furrey , Az-Zahir Hakim and Eddie Drummond -- whose primary job is to return punts and kickoffs -- are certain to be active.

After that, the choices are among Shaun Bodiford , Mike Williams and Ellis.

Everything indicates that he will play. However, I have an uneasy gut feeling that something is going to go wrong. Also, he doesn't have an easy matchup. I'm benching him for Maurice Morris and/or Evans for this week.

I'm fairly certain I'd bench Roy for Evans this week. Mo - arguable, but I'd prefer Evans. Personally, I'm questioning whether I should start a dinged up Roy over Randle El.

If Nate Clements is out, he has a very favorable matchup

The Lions reportedly don't know where Roy Williams (probable, neck) has been the past two days.

He's been missing practice due to personal reasons. Because he's also hurt, this could turn out to be a major concern. If Williams doesn't practice on Friday, it will be time to start exploring other options.

From the head coach:>> On how WR Roy Williams looked today

“Seems fine, yeah, he seems real good. (He) was running around well today, so that was very encouraging.”

From the blogger:

Lions Friday Injury ReportDetroitLions.com - [Full Article]According to Detroit Lions HC Rod Marinelli's Friday news conference, WR Roy Williams (Back) returned to practice on Friday and looked good.

ive got to decide between two of

roy , reggie brown and lee evans.

strange week for roy so i think ill leave him on bench and go with safer plays until i see with my eyes he is ok. those other matchups dont suck.

I too have decided to bench Roy in favor of Lee Evans. Couldn't have said it better...just a strange week for Roy. Maybe if it were a different player, I'd overlook all the bizarre goings on and just start him since he did appear to practice Fri and Sat, but I've been snake bit by Roy too many times the past 3 years. I'll give him the day off, let him rest, get his head (and back and neck) back together and hopefully he can finish the season strong.

I think the early reports of being doubtful were mostly speculation that passed around. I believe it never came out on the injury report that way. As for being excused for personal reasons, that doesn't give us owners any reassurance, but personal is personal, so it's no surprise if we don't hear more about that.

My gut feeling has been he's good to go and going to have a big game. I'm leaving him in my lineup.

If he is starting, he is a must start in a fantasy formats. I give him a bump him in the football guy's rankings to top 15, approaching top 10.

Are you talking about Roy or Mike Furrey, who's been seeing a ton of targets this year?
Good question! In looking at numbers, here is how Furrey has stacked up with Williams:Furrey:Wk 1: 6 - 83% caughtWk 2: 8 - 75% caughtWk 3: 8 - 38% caughtWk 4: 10 - 80% caughtWk 5: 9 - 33% caughtAVG: 8.2 targets per game - 61% catch rateWilliams:Wk 1: 7 - 43% caughtWk 2: 8 - 75% caughtWk 3: 11 - 64% caughtWk 4: 14 - 64% caughtWk 5: 1 (Injured) - 100% caughtAVG: 10 per game (Not taking week 5 into consideration) - 63% catch rateBoth receivers are nice options. Bottom line, when facing double coverages, Roy Williams has been more productive each week, whereas when Furrey had to carry the load, his numbers dropped. All in all Roy is the better receiver number wise. If there is doubt on whether RW will play the whole game, Furrey is a nice checkdown option.

I am not talking about Furrey, I am talking about Roy. Marinelli said he (Roy) looked good in practice on Friday and will start on Sunday. Roy was the leading target for Kitna prior to his early departure last week. He had 40, Furrey had 31. Last week, Kitna looked to Az and Furrey 12 and 9 times respectively. So he uses his WR's to the max. Nonehtless, I think Furrey is a great complement to Roy. So far this season, it looks like Furrey is to Roy as:Alvin Harper was to Irvin.Reggie to HarrisonHoush to ChadI think it is still too early to put Furrey in their realm, but he should not be available in larger leagues and merits starting consideration when match ups are right.

If Roy plays today (which I believe he is) how does this impact Hakim's numbers? Hakim had 8 catches for 92 yards last week after Roy went down. Do you think Hakim's numbers will suffer significantly when Roy plays?

No way Roy is a decoy. Buffalo pass defense is giving up just under 200 yards passing per game and 7 TD's so far this season.

Roy Williams is a stud.

Same :D And I drank the Lions kool-aid in the preseason so I have Kevin Jones and Roy Williams in most of my leagues. :D
