Roy Williams (1 Viewer)

Blackjacks

I saw he had 3 catches for 20 yards and a td early in the game and then nothing the rest. Did he get hurt? I know McDonald, Furrey and ultra stud rookie Calvin Johnson stepped it up later on. I'm wanting to know if Detroit just went away from Roy or did he get hurt? Any help would be appreciated.

Nope, he was out there. He even got Calvin Johnson's first TD ball back for him and brought it to him. Nice fellow, that Roy Williams. I can't fault Kitna for throwing to a wide open Shaun McDonald (he was wide open on that TD pass). Roy was even in on those last few Tatum Bell runs at the end of the game.

Kitna spread it around to 4 wrs. This will continue.

Roy was matched up against Nnamdi Asomougha (a true shutdown corner) for most of the game. This will not continue.

Lot's of options for Kitna.I expect a different leader weekly with Roy being the leader in that category by season's end..............

I didn't see that much of the game, but I did flip over a few times as an interested Roy Williams owner. I agree that Detroit was spreading the ball around. I'm sure that Oakland game-planned for Roy quite a bit too. On the other hand, in a limited sampling I did see him struggle against press coverage (not sure who was covering) once or twice.

It seems the Lions are really spreading the ball around. they lined up much of the game with 4 WRs..with Roy and CJ getting alot of attention Furrey and McDonald seem open all day.

CJ & Roy will be a Fitz & Boldin situation in PPR leagues. Both will be a good start & it will be difficult to determine who will lead the team in fantasy receiving production. I would not be suprised if CJ has more receptions by season end.

Roy did drop/miss a couple catchable passes, but then again he made an incredible catch on one pass. I think this was a case that Detroit was taking advantage of Oakland's nickel secondary. There are very few #3 and #4 CBs in the league that can cover 2 of Calvin, Furrey, and McDonald.

Kitna and Detroit this year is very similar to the '99 Rams IMO. Bruce = Roy. Calvin = Holt. Furrey + McDonald = get all the leftovers. There is no Marshall Faulk in Detroit's backfield, so that could make for some very productive weeks for the #3 and #4 WRs this year like you saw in Oakland. There are so many weapons in Detroit at WR that everyone is gonna get a piece of the pie. Roy Williams should benefit the most though, he is the stud of the group. He's the only guy that was in the game for pretty much every down from what I saw. Calvin, Furrey, and McDonald were all rotating a lot.

He didn't get as many targets as you would hope for. He did have one downfield pass go right through his hands and Oakland intercepted. He should have easily caught that pass. Not to worry though, the Det WR corp is greatly improved and Roy should see less double/triple teaming this year. He's going to get his share of big games.
