Rudi Johnson This Week: Okay to Start or Wait Longer? (1 Viewer)

It's obvious he is going to get the majority of the carries after last weeks game and this weeks matchup is fairly good for the Bengal's running game. Is Rudi a good start for this week or is it too early to count on him?

I'm thinking of putting Rudi in my lineup this week since LenDale White's status is up in the air. I liked seeing 22 carries for Rudi last week, even though they weren't very productive.

been shying away from the cincy RBs of late, but i think i'm going to start rudi this week unless i hear of a setback.

I shied away so much I traded Rudi and Watson for Jamal and Wright a couple of weeks ago. Both have cake playoff schedules but at least I know that Jamal is going to be the guy for clevelend. I will say this though, that 22 carry performance was something I did not expect after the week before. Sure, he didn't do much with those carries but then again they were against Baltimore in Baltimore. Zona has a pretty good D (not something people ever really say about the Cards) but the game is in Cinci. I could see a decent game this week. The thing I worry about is him getting shut down for the season if he tweaks anything again. But if you have Watson you would be in great shape....

Right, I agree. I actually started Watson over Rudi last week (ended up with the same scoring in my league anyway) but with 22 carries, I'm now going to go with Johnson.I don't like the matchup at all vs. Arizona but it is in Cinci and Arizona's not that good on the road. I see Cinci getting a lot of passing yards, so look for Housh and Johnson to do well but as a Rudi owner, I hope to get a garbage TD in either a pass that is caught and down to the 1 or 2 yard line or maybe a pass interference in the endzone to give me a cheap 6.

Heard Marvin on Sirius this morning. I got the distinct impression, tho he didn't say it outright, that Rudi was going to resume his full role as top dog on the offense this week. He mentioned that Kenny would get a few carries, and blamed the lack of yards on missed blocking assignments, not the backs.

Take it FWIW, but it's enough for me to swap in Rudi over Chatman until I hear something concrete to change my mind.

Rudi getting 20+ carries last week tells me the coaching staff believes he's 100% healthy and if that's the case I fully expect him to be their featured RB. It's tough to get a gauge on this matchup because while the Cardinals rank in the Top 10 against the run they have given up decent RB production at times. They've given up TD runs (including last week to Kevin Jones); Brian Leonard and DeAngelo Williams have dropped 100-yard games on them. If Rudi gets 20+ carries again I think he has a chance to be at worst a solid RB2 this week. Since the Cardinals allow nearly 1 rushing TD per game he's got a shot at his first rushing score of the year in my opinion.

I'm starting him.
