Rumor? Asomugha signed by Raiders? (1 Viewer)

I came across this on another board. It seems ESPN radio reported this but the link below is the ONLY one I have been able to find, and I am not familiar with this site. Anyone one else hear anything about this??

LINK: http://mvn.com/nfl-raiders/2008/03/17/repo...akland-raiders/

*IF* this is true, altho its a sick amount of $$, it was something the Raiders needed to do, IMO. Could be one of the reasons that the Hall deal is not looking like a done deal yet.

lol, yeah, I was thinking the same thing when I first heard it, just not sure on the validity of the link.

Like I said before, IF this is true, it really could be one of the reasons the Hall deal hasn't been inked yet. It would make sense...

The link states that ESPN reported the contract, however I cannot find a single mention of it on ESPN... I am just saying.Edited to add:I just noticed this at the bottom of that article as well:

**********UPDATE*************I am currently looking for confirmation of this story. I am hoping I did not jump the gun here.

A Raiders forum I frequent is stating that the "report on ESPN" was actually a poster that left a comment about Aso's signing.

Yeah, I saw that too, and is one of the reasons I wasn't sure of the validity of the link. Never been to that site before.Oh, and trust me I have been looking for a links ever since I read it, lol, and this was the ONLY one I could find, anywhere. Still lookin', tho and am curious to see if there will anything about it, or the possible Hall trade, tomorrow. And on another note, a well-respected poster on another board I frequent actually heard it today on a bay area radio station. It was one of the reasons I went hunting for a link. Who knows, I just thought I'd throw it out here in case one of you had heard anything about this. I am guessing (hoping) will all know more tomorrow...

I know it sounds crazy, but I was hoping for the little possibility that if Oakland traded for Hall and signed him to a big contract, that they could lift the franchise tag from Asomugha, making him a FA.

I know that would be insane because Asomugha is one of the top 3 corners in the league.

Any reason? So your favorite franchise could sign him? He'd be a great acquisition for any team, but I can't see Oakland's reasoning in doing it.

Report of Asomugha signing premature

By Patrick Patterson | March 17th, 2008

After the earlier report, I have been unable to find any confirmation of the Oakland Raiders coming to terms on a long term deal with Nnamdi Asomugha. It appears that my earlier account was in error and premature. My apologies, and I will do my best to continue to bring you the up to date Raider News and Views.
Link: http://mvn.com/nfl-raiders/2008/03/17/repo...ging-premature/At least he owned up to it. Still fishy if you ask me, tho, and I can't wait for tomorrow! Even if just wishful thinking!

I have to say I am impressed with the reporter. To step up and take responsibility for the rumor speaks volumes to me. Actually makes me trust his word more then if he hadn't first made the mistake.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. Still, tho, it makes you wonder "why" he would have posted it in the first place, without *some* sort of confirmation. It also makes me wonder if what these guys actually *heard said* on the radio was something said based on the original link (which is no longer there) from that site.Still seems fishy to me, tho. Probably just wishful thinking on my part, but I'm curious as to where the hell this rumor started. Hopefully we will hear more come tomorrow...

Damn, sure is frustrating in these recent years being a Raiders fan, that's all I've got to say! :lmao:

Mass, don't take this the wrong way as I really appreciate your posts. You are always very insightful, balanced and thoughtful. But enough with the "Scrabble" nickname. It's just awful. If you have that much trouble with Asomugha go with Aso.
