Rumor of Tatum Bell trade to Giants won't go away (1 Viewer)

In the course of talking to people around the league today, the rumor that the Giants want to trade for Tatum Bell just won't go away. Some pretty good sources are insisting that something is in the works.

All I can tell you is that every indication that I've gotten is that the Lions traded for Bell because they wanted to play him, not trade him. Does that mean that they wouldn't consider a deal if they were getting great compensation? No, but I still believe the Lions just filled one of their needs with a speed guy with a good track record and they don't want to give themselves another hole to fill just to get another draft choice.

Now, this is free agency and everybody lies and I might be getting sold a bill of goods and I accept that possibility. However, until I hear otherwise, I believe the Giants' desire to get Bell and the Lions' desire to get rid of him are two entirely different things.

Dude, no offense but seriously, step away from the computer for a minute, re-read what you wrote and tell me you honestly believe that? I know Millen is a National Disaster but come on. KJ is down and Bell will be a decent fit into Martz's offense and even better when KJ comes back midseason, although not FF wise. Query: What does Detroit do for RB if they deal him to NYG? The GMen will look elsewhere and so should you. I would turn my focus on McGahee because he would be a perfect and much more explosive fit for the Gmen than Bell. Just my .02

Tatum Bell-RB- Lions Mar. 2 - 10:36 pm et The Giants are reportedly interested in trading for Tatum Bell. There are rumblings that the Lions are open to moving Bell after getting him from Denver at midnight Thursday. Whether or not they decide to deal Bell could give us on tell on how far along Kevin Jones is in his rehab.Source: Profootballtalk.com

I said this before but i thought this was where Bell was gonna end up. If you remember Tiki had alot of the same problems Bell is having now.

He didnt write that-the lions writer did.The writer is the same guy that FBG interviewed and is generally the best source of what is going on behind closed doors there.

Dominic Rhodes is already in NY, I expect the Giants to sign him by the end of the weekend.
He has already left without a contract. sorry :(Dominic Rhodes' two-day visit with the Giants is now over, and he left Giants Stadium without a deal. That doesn't mean he won't eventually get one, especially since a team source said the Giants "were favorably impressed." But teams usually like to lock up their top targets before they have a chance to go anywhere else. It is believed the Giants had at least preliminary contract talks with Rhodes' agent, Mike McCartney. It's not clear if Rhodes has any other visits planned.Meanwhile, the Giants still haven't been able to lure big Leonard Davis to Giants Stadium, despite several conversations with his agent, Ryan Tollner, today. So, it looks like the Giants will go 0 for the first 2 days of free agency. Considering some of the ridiculous contracts being thrown around the NFL, though, that's not necessarily a bad thing.

Do any of you think part of the problem with the Giants signing FAs has to do with Tom Coughlin being their head coach? He is known as a dictator with idiotic fines from everything from wrong color socks to not being early enough for a meeting. Tiki bad mouthed him after he retired and I think that many players are leery of signing because of it.

Maybe the Lions were preparing for Calvin Johnson by signing a RB and OT, and now realize he may not make it to 1.2. In which case, they may look at Peterson, and trade Bell.
