Great news!

Ryan Mathews (fractured clavicle) returned to Chargers practice on Monday.Mathews remains unlikely to play on Monday Night Football and we don't realistically expect him to resume handling full workloads until Week 3, but this is a step in the right direction. We'll be keeping close tabs on this situation throughout the week. For now, expect Ronnie Brown and Curtis Brinkley to be San Diego's primary backs against the Raiders. Le'Ron McClain may also mix in. Jackie Battle is focusing on special teams at the moment.

Nice! Possible week 2 RB? Ahead of schedule? Liking where this is going!

edit: The way I read it on CBS, he might even take a few snaps in week 1? Interesting..

I would still be planning on October and you could have a guy that never quite is 100% the entire season and splits a lot of time with Brown, especially if Brown were productive...which is probably a stretch to believe beyond just a couple games.

Despite returning to Monday's practice, Ryan Mathews (collarbone) confirmed he's yet to be medically cleared for contact.

"I just got to wait," said Mathews. Mathews remains "very hopeful" he'll play in Monday night's opener against the Raiders, but it still seems like a major longshot. Most promisingly, Mathews is no longer experiencing pain and has stayed in tip-top physical condition. Reporters observed Mathews catching passes Monday and going through individual drills. He's also been spotted doing uphill windsprints and carrying the ball with both hands.

Talk to me when he's actually taking contact. :coffee:
This is the exact skepticism that I want spread to my league buddies. Hopefully they all subscribe to you, sir :) . I read a lot of what you post but perhaps I'm just overly optimistic on Matthews this year.
