Ryan Torain (1 Viewer)

According to Roto, Portis said that the team will probably not let him play this weekend. Torrain will have a tough match-up against GB but if that is the best you have, at least you have a starting RB.
I admit I don't watch the Packers, statistically they are the 22nd ranked run defense but you call it a tough matchup, what am I missing?ETA - Just answered my own question by research, they give up lots of rushing yards to QBS (Vick and Shaun Hill) and that has the stats skewed.

Great Job, MS. That's it. They've played Vick and S. Hill. Combined they rushed for more than 150+ yards. The stats. are skewed, I'm glad you dug deeper. :fishing: Not much success against GB by opposing RBs. It will be tough sledding for any Redskin RB.

I thought Torain looked really good yesterday. He ran hard up the middle and he surprised me with his speed around the corner.
Other than his TD run, I wouldn't say I was impressed. Not saying I though he looked bad, but I didn't necessarily think he looked really good either. There were holes to run through and he did that. There was room around the edge and he got there. So did Portis. After the game, the Redskins were asked about attacking the edges. Basically, Philly isn't good on the edge. They usually have their safety more inside and their CBs aren't really good in run support. So, Washington attacked it.
surprised a skins fan is saying this..I got a question for you.. whens the last time you saw a skins back run like that?edit: and dont say sellers
Run like what? Other than his TD, I don't remember thinking, "Wow, great run!" in regards to Torain.

I picked up Torain yesterday durnig the game after his TD...
Good for you!Our league puts all FAs back to the wavier at 1:00 sharp Sunday afternoon until Wed morning in order to give everyone a fair shot.
As it should. By having open waiver periods, it gives certain owners (those that have the time to watch all games or on top of NFL news) a big advantage. I work on Sundays, no internet access, and record NFL games. When FF starts paying my salary, I will be more on top of NFL breaking news. I think Torrain has good value right now and the Portis owner should have claimed him last week. If he/she didn't, then they missed the Torrain train. Even if Portis is the starter Torrain has injury/bye week value. If Portis is out, Torrain is a very serviceable RB2.
Get a different job, Don't hate because others got there days off right. I believe the hardcore should always benefit over those who go shopping with the wife all day sunday, and then because his team sucks he gets first claim and hits on the guy that everyone touts cuz he dont get his own info. That is just as unfair.First come first serve, in the age of the internet and phones that have all the apps....is the only way to go IMHO.

If you cant get a phone because of money, then you should not be paying to play fantasy football.

Got torain the same way, and will benefit cuz of FCFS...cuz i'm sure some guy in my league was sewing doilies or sumthing, instead of manning the battlestation on sundays.

No excuse, Sundays are for football. Negotiated in my current contract of employment to not have to work Sundays, so I can own up to my statement.

Meh, but they can fire me at anytime I gues, lol
If anyone needs a sig, you've found it.

I thought he ran well in the first half. The second half was a lot of "washington is trying to grind out the win" offense so he saw a lot of stacked boxes and still kept positive yardage.

Some of the owners in my league are doctors, firemen, and policemen. We are a 14 team league and 10 of us are in those areas of employment. Just think how lucky you are that your couch glued #### can be saved on a Sunday because we believe that we have better things to do than "manning the battlestation on sundays" and watching football. I can record and watch an entire football game in less than an hour. Go enjoy the timeouts, commercials, challenges, and halftime shows and I will continue playing in a league that doesn't allow waiver pick-ups on gamedays. I don't hate because you got your days off "right". I actually feel sorry for you that you don't know any better.

HEY... not everyone wants to be a productive member of society. Not everyone wants to recognize that there are people who actually have their priorities straight - you know, family, the community, being a productive member of society rather than someone with the mentality of a 22 year old frat boy (although I do miss those days).

So screw you police men, doctors, people who care about friends and family more than fantasy football. The system SHOULD be set up in an unfair manner because think about it - what else does the fantasy football above all else crowd have to live for (answer: not much). Who should feel sorry for whom?

Back to Torain - the guy has a shot, but you know when Portis is back, it will be at best a split. Of course, Portis has a LOT of miles on those legs and could give out providing exceptional upside to Torain (until he gets hurt. again).

Not to totally derail this thread, but my league used FCFS for 7 years before switching over to waivers this year and it is so much better. This is coming from someone who doesn't work Sundays. I came to the realization that something had to change last year when I was driving over to my buddy's house to watch football when I heard on the radio that Frank Gore was injured and I frantically got out my phone WHILE DRIVING to pick up Glenn Coffee. I thought...there has got to be a better way than this.Waivers are great because it involves actual strategy instead of "fastest guy to his computer wins" which is total bush league anyways. I like to actually relax and enjoy football on Sundays.

You need to be introduced to the RedZone Channel.btw if you have DirecTV with the Sunday Ticket they have apps that will stream the games to your phone.

Firehose in one hand, cell phone with RZ Channel in the other. It's win-win baby.

I often wonder how many FBG's heads would explode if they were in my "3 Free Agent Moves Per Season" league...

All of the flavor of the day add/drops in these "unlimited" move leagues make me dizzy.

trying to trade torain to upgrade at TE...(packaging him with either TO or Mercedes, but getting no takers...not even from a huge redskins fan or teams decimated by injuries/byes)

With Portis becoming rather frail lately, and the possibility, as with any RB, that Torain gets hurt too...who's next for the Skins since Keiland Williams got cut?

Who would run the ball for them? Those of us who snagged Torain a week or two ago have already got our payoff...who's next if an injury occurs?

This Bud's for you: "the hardcore should always benefit over those who go shopping with the wife all day sunday, and then because his team sucks he gets first claim and hits on the guy that everyone touts cuz he dont get his own info" guy...

Offers are beginning to come in.. So far have been offered Mike Wallace/Brandon Jackson for Torain/Feilx

What are others starting to see?

Torain hype is very strong in my league, at least with one guy. I just got an email offering Colston for him!
Wow...Id take either of those trades quickly. Am trying to get Mike Wallace this week before he blows up once Ben is back. Might use Torain as bait now.

They Packers have faced some anemic offensive lines in bills and bears. Matt Forte has been a donkey, running the ball, vs every team, but Lynch behind that o-line they patched together in buffalo didnt look terrible. Jahvid best and mccoy didnt carry it much, but combined for 19 carries for 85 yards, 4.5 ypc a clip. Washington doesnt have a great offensive line, but Torain and Portis have found success running the ball the past 2 weeks. Im not endorsing Torain, but i am saying that the packers D isnt anything to be scared of. Given 15-20 touches, Torain should be productive enough to warrant low end rb2 status

Keiland Williams is on the practice squad, so he'd be available. Not saying he'd be the guy they'd go to in that situation, just that he's still available to the team.

I think he's a great start this week. I think most on this board would agree. The debate is on his value for the rest of the season.

I got an offer yesterday:

Kenneth Darby and a 2011 3rd round rookie pick for Ryan Torain.

I quickly countered with a more sensible offer, but the guy clearly has the hots for Torain. Unfortunately for him, I have no intent to trade him unless I get a much better offer. I think I'll hold him for now.

What's everyone else planning to do with Torain?

Ahh I have fond memories of stashing Torain on my roster in 2008 and actually using him in a game @ Cleveland. He had just come off a dislocated elbow or something so his arm was in a huge brace, but he still managed to put up great numbers (12 carries, 68 yards and a TD) before getting injured...again and then subsequently missing the rest of the season.
I did the exact same thing! Was on a trip to San Diego, and I think that game was a Thursday night game. There is a Denver Broncos-themed sportsbar in Carlsbad, CA (North of SD) where we sat and watched the game. I was so psyched seeing Torain rip it up in the 1st half...then the injury. Picked him up in Dynasty, if for nothing else but a warm body on my RB starved team. Let's see what he does.

I picked up B. Lloyd last week, and started him. He is the #6 overall WR in my league (though of course onely one of those weeks was on a team). Torian owner has offered me Torian for Lloyd. I think it's too rich, but then again, is it?

Very interested in more value ideas on Torian ....

Starting him this week to cover Mendy's bye. Then next to cover Benson's - then trade him away after two weeks of 120/2. :goodposting:

With Portis out 4-6 weeks why is Sig so down on Torain? He got hurt with the ACL once in 2008. Am I missing something?

This guy has battled injuries his entire football career, college and pro he's a good bet to get hurt at some point this year that's why Williams is a must own for all Torain owners.

He's been selling Torain from the beginning, mentioned it again in the waiver wire special audible for week 5 too.

Packers

colts

bears

lions

next 4 weeks. Colts/lions are juicy matchups and provided torain is healthy he just may be the new starting running back. Vick took the eagles job by pounding on the lions. This is exciting as a torain owner in both dynastys since may.

For those in an auction waiver system, is Torain worth an all in? Especially, for those who own Portis.

Washington's upcoming schedule looks great to run on. Out of the next 5 games only Chicago might be a speed bump, but Bradshaw lit them up so who knows where they go from here vs. the run.

Just got offered Ocho for Torain. Thinking about it since I have no WRs but I have no RBs either. Is the shark move to make the trade and pick up K Williams

Done shot myself in the foot - picked up Torain and then dropped him. Dumb, but of course I never expected Portsi would get hurt so bad, so fast. Thought maybe I had one more week.

WRONG.

I think Torain's a great talent, he's come a long way, and he's fought hard to get back to the big show.

For those of you who have Portis and Torain... is Portis safe to drop? I really could use the roster space.

4-6 weeks means that he isn't playing at full strength until after week 10. By that time, Torain should be the man anyhow, no?

The Washington Post suggests that Clinton Portis "has played his last game" for the Redskins.

Portis' recovery from a separated groin will be no easy task, and first-year Redskins coach Mike Shanahan is pursuing a "roster overhaul" that includes replacing declining veterans with younger players in at least some cases. Said Shanahan Wednesday of Ryan Torain, "He’s a top back in the National Football League. There’s no question about it." Portis is a good bet to end up on injured reserve. He won't see a dime of his $8.254 million salary in 2011.

per rotoworld.

For those who paid little to nothing, or stashed torain before this week , congrats. Alot of pessimism, much of it justified, follows him around. But I rather think how i paid nothing, and scooped up a potentially top 20 rb for nothing. Shanahan clearly likes him and will give him more of a shot than many of you think, that is my gut feeling. I remember owning him for that one game in 2008, it was a nice first half lol. I also remember brandon marshall letting me down that game, but thats another story ( he had like 80 yards early in the game i have no idea how he didnt give me my 100 yard bonus). I'll sell high if the offer is right, but im fine Flexin Torain and seein where this "torain train" takes me. Even grant hill and caddy williams , other injury riddled players, put together injury free, productive years at some point.

Well, you still would be without a WR - gut has been junk the last three weeks.

Just finalized a trade with me giving up Clayton and Blount for Torain and Gaffney. I was a little weak at RB so decent trade for both parties involved...IMO....
