Owens also won the poll for best wide receiver. So I guess players either think he's the best or overrated... not much middle ground with TO.

 steve smith had a couple drops this past weekend. holt had some this year too. doesn't discredit TO at all. it happens.

what the hell did urlacher do to get on this list. He doesn't seem overrated to me all. Him and the older manning are the two names that stand out to me. I can see the rest being on the list...

 that 4% must account for all the CBs he torched...

I'm surprised Vick isn't on this list.

Charles Woodson is probably the most overhyped player of the past 20 years. (Well, at least until this year with Reggie Bush)

Lets face it, these guys being polled aren't the brightest guys. These guys clearly don't know the difference between over-talked-about and overrated.Derek Jeter was voted as most overrated MLB player last year I beleive (by his peers).

ben in a landslide
i dont know about a landslide, but i've always thought ben was way overrated. after this season, his 'rating' might not be very high anyway ...
Overrated based on what? He's never been elected to a Pro Bowl and hasn't even won the MVP award for his own team. So, he's overrated based on the fact that people laud his accomplishments? Rightfully so, he's had an unparalleled start to his career. I don't think anyone's saying he's any better than the 3rd or 4th best QB in his own conference, so I'm not sure how he's overrated.

Surprised Roy Williams from Dallas isn't on the list
 Do you even watch Dallas games or are you just a hater? Seriously.
I agree with Yenrub. Roy is good for laying the lumber a couple of times a game and a horse collar or two. He can't cover worth beans and Jacobs is still peeling pieces of his 31 jersey from his grill from dragging him halfway through the endzone 2 weeks ago.

I was thinking Brett Favre.
You mean the NFL MVP, SuperBowl Winning, Record holding QB? His name crossed my mind too....
10 different smiley faces doesn't help make your case. What has Brett Favre done lately? What's his TD/INT ratio in the last few years? He's been a terrible QB for the last few years yet still get high praise from the likes of John Madden. Favre is the pure definition of overrated (we're talking about now, not 5 years ago).

Caddalac Williams, never lived up to his first round hype for 2 years.

Reggie BUSH soon. Hasn't been around long enough.

This is one of the dumbest polls I have seen. Everyone on that list is the reason thier respective teams are good. Maybe turn it upside down and put Sapp first would make more since. If it's based on this year my top 3 would be

1.Big Ben

2.Caddallac

3. Bush

While I agree that Favre is a bit overrated by some, he has not been a terrible QB for the last few years. Last year was his only bad year. In '04, he threw for 4,088 yards, had a YPA of 7.6 (the 2nd highest of his career), completed 64.1 % of his passes (the 2nd highest percentage of his career) and had a TD-INT ratio of + 13 (30 TD's, 17 INT's). In '03, he had the highest completion percentage of his career (65.4), and had a TD-INT ratio of +11 (32 TD's, 21 INT's).

But everyone KNOWS that Favre has lost it and is a shadow of his former self, just as likely to throw a TD as an INT on any given play - I think it's pretty though to be "overrated" when everyone thinks that.

I see plenty of games. Why would I hate on Roy? As a Giants fan I love watching him take bad angles when trying to tackle Tiki Barber, I also enjoy seeing him getting run over by Jacobs and most of all I love seeing him attempting to cover Shockey down field.

Not that he's rated that highly by most anymore, but I'm a little surprised Randy Moss didn't make the list when Terrell Owens got that many votes. T.O. is a jerk, but at least he performs, so I find it difficult to call him "overrated." Isn't Moss still the highest paid WR? He strikes me as a one trick pony who no is longer motivated enough to excel at his one trick.

how the #### is big ben not number 1 with a bullet. all of pittsburgh thought he was jesus christ when they were running 75% of the time. now he's throwing cause they cant run and you see how bad he actually is. ben is by far the most overrated in the league ever since 15-1. i saw trent dilfer put up a similar streak on the way to ravens superbowl. people are morons and assume if a teams is good the QB must be the reason. ben is terrible. by the way ray lewis AKA the greatest linebacker in the history of the sport is most certainly not anywhere near as overrated as those scrubs on offense whose nuts ESPN licks (vick, TO, ben, anyone they talk about daily). ray and peyton are not overrated and are the only sure thing hall of famers on that list. maybe warren sapp cause he's a big fat ####### that mugs for the cameras.

Have you also noticed that Roy Williams leads the Dallas Defense (which is ranked #4 in the NFL) with 3 ints and 7 passes defensed in 7 games? Not only that, but sit back, chill and watch a Cowboys game without any judgement and I can almost promise that you'll witness Roy will make a big time play at some point during the game. Lastly, I distinctly remember Roy lighting up Brandon Jacobs on the inch yard line last year resulting in a game deciding fumble. Do you really think Roy makes the Pro-Bowl every year based on reputation or his ability on the field?

:lmao: No response necessary, this speaks for itself.

This list is a complete joke...that is all...I guess you could say the same thing about the IQ levels of most NFL players...

i don't mean to be the spelling police, but this could be the most butchered post i've ever seen on any board ever. wow.anyway, my thoughts are that Sapp actually SUCKS. the fact that he's even discussed as being any good at all is surprising, and gets him a vote, in my mind. urlacher isn't that surprising in my mind, although i can think of other players that are more deserving. Ben comes to mind. as does Chris Chambers, Randy Moss, Culpepper, and Keyshawn. all those guys are generally just junk. Moss may salvage his career at some point, i guess. even i have better hands than Chambers, and culpepper and keyshawn were never deserving of any hype in the first place.

Ok so Roy makes A big play in every Dallas game (except against the Giants on Monday night 4 tackles, 0 interceptions, 0 passes defended and beat like a drum by Shockey for a TD) the guy is still overrated.Sure he can light up a RB in the hole with the best of them.

You sit back an watch him play without judgments and count how many times he takes bad angles and has no other choice but to horse collar a RB to bring him down.

And to answer your question, I think he went to the last of Pro-Bowl on reputation. I think he is good but I also think he is overrated.
