Saban done at Miami? (1 Viewer)

It's funny but in terms of a decision to leave the NFL job for a college job, I'd actually think worse of Saban for doing it than I did Spurrier.

When he was with the Redskins, Spurrier was well paid but had little actual power given how much of an NFL neophyte he was - for example Marvin Lewis was actually hired for him as a defensive coordinator during his first year. It also became very clear that he was categorically unfit to manage an NFL team as a coach. His departure from the team was as much of a relief as anything else, although notifying the team via a cell phone call from a Florida golf course was about as emblematic of the man and his coaching tenure as anything could have been.

Saban on the other hand has been given everything you could possibly ask for as a coach, including GM responsibilities. He's the Dolphins' dictator, answerable to no one except the owner. Moreover, he knows how to coach in the NFL and enjoyed some remarkable success last year with a team that performed above its head. It's been rough this year, but no one is classifying this team as a disaster and I think he can still turn it around. For him to leave now would look very weak to me as it would leave his team in the lurch.
