Sad day for Jaguars fans (1 Viewer)

Funny, insightful, "old school" writer for the website.

Even as a west coast non-Jags fan I've read a lot of Ketchman's columns. Sad day.ETA --- I see from the article he's not retiring but moving over to the Packers "to take a job with the Green Bay Packers involving enhanced media projects." Not sure what that will mean exactly. I hope he has a GB version of his "Ask Vic" column.

Ask Vic is one of the best columns there was on the web or in print. The guy walked a fine line between being supportive of the team and being candid, honest+truthful to his readers. He did that beautifully.

It is not easy to be a sports reporter for a bad team or a team that makes a few dopey player moves and...they should be discussing his artful way of doing it in journalism schools.

I agree that its a sad day to see Vic Ketchman leave the Jaguars organization and move onto the Green Bay Packers. Reading the Ask Vic column gave me a better understanding of football and how an NFL organization operates. As for who his successor will be, perhaps they will promote Ryan Robinson who also contributes to the jaguars.com website. I very much enjoyed reading Vic Ketchman, and I suppose its a dilemma in trying to decide to continue reading quality material even though it will be with a Green Bay slant. One thing I wonder though is if he's doing it for the $$, I think I would prefer to live in Jacksonville than Green Bay.

Sounds like he might be a good replacement. He covered the Jaguars for the first 6 years of their existence, has worked in the Florida area for many years, and recently covered the Indianapolis Colts. So he has a working history of the Jaguars, knows the Florida area, and has a working knowledge of the AFC South from covering the Colts. Probably not many writers out there with that kind of background.

Los Angeles Jaguars
Weaver said his health is fine and he remains upbeat about his ownership of the team, in Jacksonville.

"You want to go for a three-mile run? Let’s go, I’ll go with you," Weaver said. "I’m committed to this team. It’s the best job I’ve ever had in my life. I’m not wanting to give it up anytime soon but I have to be honest, at some point I do have to have an exit strategy. I’ve been very candid about that. I’m not out looking for an exit strategy.

"If it comes it would have to meet certain criteria. It would have to be someone who is as passionate about Jacksonville as I am. It’s someone who would have the same vision of building the legacy of what we started the past 16 years and whatever years that follow, and keeping the team here in Jacksonville. Those are the things that I believe are very important for me to even consider talking about selling the team.”
