Safety Chris Harris to Green Bay? (1 Viewer)

He's cheap this year ($640k), and it reminds me a bit of Wolf signing Andre Rison halfway through their '96 superbowl run after losing Brooks (in this case, Collins).

And everyone can agree they need to shore up their secondary... Do you think Harris will clear waivers to GB?

Former Bears SS Chris Harris would like to end up with the Broncos or Panthers if he goes unclaimed on waivers.

Harris played for Broncos coach John Fox in Carolina from 2007-2009, and maintains a good relationshiop with former Bears DC and current Panthers coach Ron Rivera. Both teams have younger secondaries and struggling run defenses, though if they really want Harris they will likely put in a waiver claim. A liability in pass coverage, interest in Harris is unlikely to be robust.

I have a feeling that A) he wouldn't mind playing for a team with a solid chance to win a ring this year, and B) his performance would improve due to the quality of players around him combined with the expectations of a solid coaching staff. Perhaps not back to All-Pro, but certainly enough to be a solid starter/depth player.

He's hurt. I don't if he's healing or close to healed but if he's not good enough to start for the Bears, then he ain't good. Watch the Lions game and tell me he's still good enough to play in this league.

If he's cheap, why not? We do need help and have a spot open with the loss of Green.GO PACK GO!

Lions claimed former Bears safety Chris Harris on waivers.

Yes!

Sincerely,

Bears Fan

I'll admit that I haven't seen him play much for the Bears, but I LOVED him as a Panther. He hit hard, caused a ton of fumbles, and was routinely the hardest worker on the defense. Not to mention, he seems to be a genuinely nice person who really embraces to town he's in.

I really wish him the best of luck in Detroit.

Ted would never do that. He like his own people and rarely brings FA's in or trades for any player.

He's a great player and was a great Chicago Bear. His teammates love him. It's too bad The Bears front office is too stupid to realize it. Best of luck to him. I hope he burns their asses when they play next.

 "Was" is the key word. Being released was his choice. He didn't want to stay on the team as a backup and the Bears front office was nice enough to release him. He was beyond bad for the games he played this year and I couldn't be happier he landed in Detroit.

He "was" at the Pro Bowl last year. He's been hurt for most of this year. There's been plenty of hamstrings injuries this year.

Meriweather was a pro-bowler the last two years, that didn't stop the Patriots from cutting him then the Bears taking him out of the starting lineup. Harris has been awful this year and there's no disputing that.

We loved him as a Bear too, but he's been terrible this year. He played an awful game and got benched and then immediately requested a trade. The Bears played their best defensive game of the year the following week with Major Wright and Chris Conte backstopping the D, but Major got injured (again, all too often with him)...So Chris Harris was back in the starting line up in London looking lost in coverage and getting targeted by the oppositions game plan and giving up big plays. You can't play bend but don't break D with a player you know is going to break frequently. I could see him making an impact in Detroit, playing w/ a chip on his shoulder, helping out their run D and looking better playing behind that D line but so far this year he has looked done.
