Sage Rosenfels traded to the NY Giants (1 Viewer)

(don't forget his prodigious fumbling)
He's lost 5 fumbles in 620+ snaps, which is a better rate than Jackson.
We can go back and forth all day quoting situational stats ad nauseum. Sage is the definition of a journeyman backup. His career is twice as long, yet he has a third fewer starts. All three teams had horrible QB situations and yet he still could not crack the starting lineup. He hands over the ball quite a bit, and makes bad decisions.I'm a Giants fan, so I hope you're right about his untapped potential. However, the fact that you're trying to compare him to TJax to say he's good is pretty telling. Poo or Poo with sprinkles - I'll pass on both.

Trading Rosenfels for what I've been hearing is a 5th is a bummer. Trading Rosenfels AND Reynaud for a 5th in 2011 and a conditional pick (probably late) in 2012? Hopefully the Giants at least call and send flowers and/or chocolates to Winter Park tomorrow morning before losing the Vikings' phone number... :excited:
Well on the brightside, that is more than the Steelers got for Santanio Holmes.

I know there are a few well-known examples of a back-up quarterback being important to a successful NFL season, but how likely or common is that really? The fact is that when you've got a guy like Favre at $15mil. or so as your starter, I don't think it really matters who your backup is; if he goes down with anything more than a twisted ankle, you may as well be looking to next year.

It looks like Rosenfels is officially the #2 QB already. Per KFFL

The New York Giants will waive QB Rhett Bomar, a source told The Star-Ledger's Mike Garafolo.
