Salary cap auction leagues (1 Viewer)

Please describe your league. Do contract values increase a given amount every year? Or do you sign a player to a "contract" and then that player is released back into the pool when the contract is done?

Okay...I do have an idea of how your league is run.

The fun thing about an auction is that it is not easy to predict. When constructing my teams, I like to have a balance b/w rookies and veterans. The idea is to get rookies cheaply for the long term, pay top dollar for established veterans, and then fill in with stop gap short term solutions.

The rule of thumb I have read for auction leagues is to spend 85% on your starters. However, for dynasty type leagues, this drops to 75% because you need to have players develop.

I find the best thing to do is to establish a high ceiling for a price you are willing to spend each player. I use the cheatsheets to help me provide a baseline, then I vary the prices based on what I think of each player.

I know these are general guidelines. Any specific questions?
