Great signing for the G-Men, as much as I hate to say it...
...if they add Arrington (and in my own twisted Love Redskins/Hate Snyder way of thinking, I hope that's exactly where he winds up), that D is going to be downright scary!!!

As much as I hate the Gints, this was a great signing for them. He's not a Pro Bowler anymore or anything close to it, but he's a above average NFL starter and they got him for a fraction of the going rate for CBs. Nice job

although I am not so high on signing Arrington. I just get the feeling that he is going to want to break the bank, in which case I would rather spend the money on Witherspoon and other free agents. If Arrington comes at a reasonable price, then I am all for it.BoltBacker

Agreed.I didn't think he'd cost a lot, but that is very low. Disappointment to be sure from a SD fan. Maybe he just wanted to stay on the east coast?

What a great price for the Gints. If he does not workout, then his cap # due to the low bonus will be very palletable.

Wow, this is awesome! Acorsi has really redeemed himself these last few offseasons between Pierce, Plax and now this. Now get Arrington!!!!

The players you are seeing signed now are players that were cut outright from their teams. Those players can be signed. The free agency period applies to players with expiring contracts. Technically those contracts don't expire until the new season starts at 12:01AM.I didn't think free agency started til 12:01 a.m. ?

Players who are released can sign with any team at any time. The beginning of free agency is for the player's whose contracts expire at the end of the season. The season/NFL fiscal year officially ends at 12:00 am.I didn't think free agency started til 12:01 a.m. ?

Sam Madison is definitely an upgrade for the Giants. There is no question about that. And it appears that they landed him for a very good price. However watching him last year really illustrated how far his game has fallen over the last several years. He doesn't have good speed, loses his man far more often than he used to and should be considered no more than a decent starting cornerback.
That said, he is still a good upgrade for the Giants who continue to make all the right steps towards becoming a legit contender.

Madison is a good cover corner who is pretty poor in the tackiling department. his speed isn't as good as it used to be but he is not a weak link out on an island. He is probably a weak number 1 corner but a pretty solid 2. I think he would do real well out of the slot against smaller guys. For the price, a very good value for the Giants. As a Dolphin fan, i would have kept him at that price.

Madison still has a couple good years left in him, and his price is VERY very affordable and perhaps even more cap friendly with such a small bonus. Considering we were working with 1.5 wills for the last couple of years, this is a huge upgrade.
Curious where they go now - Lavar, Mawae? Accorsi has really come through the last few offseasons. While Big Ben obviously has surprised, I liked the Eli trade from the beginning (the balls to go after and get the guy you think is a key for a franchise for a decade, without giving up Umi was good in my book), last year we get Plax (who has his good and bad but was and is integral in Eli's development) along with Pierce, who was playing at an All Pro level before being hurt... now it looks like another good offseason.
We are getting better each year without mortgaging anyting in terms of the future.
