Sammy Morris Placed on IR (1 Viewer)

Morris did a solid job, and you never like to see a guy go down for the year, but speaking in selfish fantasy terms, as a new Maroney owner who traded for him last week, I just gotta say

since Maroney hasn't exactly had a sterling health record ... Kevin Faulk might be a sneaky pickup
Faulk should have been picked up weeks ago. He's not available in any of my leagues.
Do you drop Derrick Ward to pick up Kevin Faulk???
I probably wouldn't. Faulk won't get in the end zone very often. It's not like he'll step in and play the role Morris was filling. Ward still probably will get a decent workload. As I've been saying, Maroney looks like he will start to get more use, and if healthy Faulk probably won't get a ton of carries but could get a handful of recpetions each week.

Yudkin is the man for being WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY ahead of the game on this.

:football: :X :X :X :X

"We're Not Worthy! We're Not Worthy!"

Kudos to Yudkin for giving us the scoop on this loooong before the official news broke.
I second that. I don't really have too much of a Pats play this year... but given how explosive this team is... how secretive this team is.. getting lock inside scoops and even opinions.... should be worth your subscription alone. [disclosure: not a F'Guys employee, just a 4 yr subscriber who's seen the kckrap the other services dish out]

Tough break for Morris. He looked real good and was a very solid contributor who ran with attitude. He will be missed. My hope is Maroney uses this opportunity to take his game to the next level. He's a talented RB that should be doing more. If he does a 1-2 punch with Faulk will be more than enough. The downside is they are now thin on the depth chart. I really wish they had added another RB this offseason. A 3-4 round type of RB would have been a nice fit. It will be interesting to see if they bring in another RB and who it is because both Maroney and Faulk have had durability issues.

Overall I think this is great news for Maroney owners as he will be the primary RB. Yet until he starts getting into the end zone expectations have to be tempered.

Mr. Yudkin-Very impressive effort here. You definetly broke this story...the Felgers, Tomases and Riess' have nothing on you. By the way...I see you're from Nashua...I'm right down Route 3 in Chelmsford.

Thanks for the love, but I really didn't do all that much. Remember, all I'm reporting is what guys have been talking about but CAN'T report because it's not official. Reporters can't print their opinions or things that no one will confirm, so even if they see a guy with a bone sticking out of a player's arm, if the team says he's probable and it's an ankle injury, they have to report he's probable with an ankle injury.

Have you been watching ESPN? All they ever do is blather on with seemingly baseless rumors and wild speculation...they stopped reporting the official news a long time ago.

I hear ya...but since the Pats are so tight-lipped info like this isn't floating around as much as it is with other teams. If this was the Red Sox we would have known about it two weeks ago.

if maroney gets 20+ carries he won't last 2weeks, he desperately needs his barber III/dillon/morris to even attempt to stay healthy.
When I read your post I couldn't help but think that I'd really like to see Michael Turner in this situation. With his ball catching skills, speed and running style I think he'd be incredible for the Pats. Won't happen and Belicheat will still tinker with his RBs at the goalline, but it would still be kind of cool.

I think Michael Turner and Maroney would be an ideal 1 - 2 punch.

I wouldn't be surprised to see BB/SP make a run for MT during the off-season.

This is the one and only weakness for New England, imo.

Last I checked they were blowing out teams even with no running game at all, why would they need to spend a boatload on michael turner? Maroney is a serviceable back, and Im not buying the "injury prone" tag just yet. The Pats will probably pick up a decent bruiser back through free agency or draft one, but they wont get in a bidding war over a guy like Turner IMO
