San Diego at Atlanta (1 Viewer)

Falcons messed that one up big time - back to whether you can trust them or not. Still wide open in the NFC South

Horrible decision to go for it (even with hindsight).

Even if you get the first down you're still at least one more first down (probably 2) away from FG position.  The risk/reward made no sense.  Quinn surprised me with that call.

I honestly don't think the decision to go for it was all that bad, but the running the ball twice in a row, was.

If we let their offense back on the field, we lose.  Go for it, but spread open the field and throw it one of those TWO tries.

I've been saying all year, there is no way the Falcons are going anywhere when we have to outscore the other team to win every week.  Our defensive scheme has been awful for years now.

I don't know it's so much scheme as it is talent. It's been a long time since they had a pass-rush.

Look at my team--the Giants. I didn't buy into the spending spree they went on. The fact was outside of Vernon, they don't have have a true pass-rusher teams could be scared of. Heck, they overpaid for him! JPP had maybe two good years and that was it. With a bad hand he's clearly not the threat he could've been.

Until Atlanta has the personnel for Quinn to work with, this D is going to be middle of the pack at best.

I think this is the right analysis.  I imagine Quinn figured that his defense couldn't stop anyone no matter how far away they were, so even if Bosher got off a great punt, the Falcons would still lose and Quinn would be criticized for not being aggressive enough (again).  I still think it was silly.  Add in the bizarre fourth-down play call - just do a little outlet pass for crying out loud - and this was a horrible, horrible way to drop one, especially at home.  P.S., second wide receivers are beneficial, Dan, for many reasons.
