Yummy yummy yummy I got roids in my tummy and i feel like pumping up!!!

Now we know how AJ Smith keeps this team on the winning path. But why didn't he have any Xanax for LT in the championship game last year, he looked pretty sad there sitting on the bench.

1). What on Earth does this add to the Pool?

2). Why did you choose today, some random 130 odd days after the game, to bring this up?

Probably precipitated by: Chargers | Cooper to miss first four games

The NFL notified the San Diego Chargers stating that LB Stephen Cooper will miss the first four regular-season games of 2008 for violating the league's policy on steroids and related substances. Cooper has been suspended without pay for the first four games.

Neither Cooper nor his agent was immediately available for comment, but sources said Cooper tested positive for ephedra.

Chargers Head Coach Norv Turner issued the following statement: “Obviously we’re disappointed, just as I know Stephen is. Coop made a mistake and now must deal with the consequences. It’s unfortunate, but we’ll deal with it and move on.”

Cooper said in a statement that he has accepted a four-game suspension for his use of a stimulant that was recently added to the NFL’s List of Prohibited Substances and that the stimulant was not used prior to any game or with the intent to enhance performance:

“I regret that I mistakenly took a stimulant that I did not realize at the time was banned by the NFL. I support the NFL’s anti-doping policies, and understand that I must serve a suspension even though the stimulant that I took was not used before any game and was not used to enhance my performance. I apologize to the NFL, my team, my coaches, and to my fans, and I look forward to continuing to help the Chargers toward our goal of winning the Super Bowl in the upcoming season.”

It seems that performance enhancement/injury recovery drugs are as much a part of the game as blocking sleds and tape. It is likely that every player is not taking them but many are. Many of the risks are known but the benefits, money and fame, are more important. I don't know how the league stops this from continuing, they probably can't and maybe really don't want to.
