Internet hype has some unemployed guy on Bleacher Report posting on how B.J. Daniels fits in on the 49ers.As much as I wanted more "Now Impact" players, It's pretty cool that we can get guys like Carradine and Lattimore at value, and have the luxury of letting them heal before they're needed.
Repeating they hype on the internet if these picks pan out, Baalke is showing how good he is at taking the long view of keeping this team competitive.
Nate Montana reportedly invited to 49ers' minicamp

Duron Carter will get an opportunity with his father's Minnesota Vikings, so it only makes sense that the undrafted son of Football Hall of Famer Joe Montana is bound for the San Francisco 49ers.
Matt Barrows of The Sacramento Bee reported Sunday that the 49ers have invited Nate Montana to attend their upcoming rookie minicamp, according to the quarterback's agent. Montana, 23, put forth a positive showing at the team's local pro day earlier this month.
Like Duron, the pass-catching son of receiver Cris Carter, Nate is a stretch to make an NFL roster.
"It's going to be hard for him to transition to the next level," NFL.com's Bucky Brooks told Around the League before the draft. "His passes don't have zip. He has difficulty making pro throws."
Montana's wandering four-stop college experience saw him flame out at Notre Dame before landing with Division II West Virginia Wesleyan College, where he topped the conference with 2,480 passing yards and 19 touchdowns in 2012.
Some of the juiciest storylines out of the 2013 NFL Draft come from the crop of free agents plucked up afterward. Montana latching on with the 49ers only would deepen the mythology of the Montana family in the Bay Area, but reality makes this a long shot.

I think it's time to put the Montana's bloodline fantasy to bed. Nice try by the 49ers to once again tie into the past with the present though. More a marketing scheme than an actual tryout IMO.Faust said:http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap1000000165033/article/nate-montana-reportedly-invited-to-49ers-minicamp

The 49ers signed Okoye, 21, as an undrafted free agent and plan to train him to become a defensive lineman. The 6-foot-6, 304-pound British athlete wowed scouts at the super regional combine at Cowboys Stadium in April, running the 40-yard dash in 4.78 seconds and posting impressive results in the vertical jump (35 inches) and broad jump (10-foot-5).
6'6. 304 pounds with a 4.78 40? He's gotta be a long shot to make the roster but if he does...Okoye said that he put on a helmet and pads for the first time when he visited the Saints. "It was quite interesting. They're not as heavy as I thought," he told the San Francisco Chronicle in a telephone interview Monday.
They should try and make a NT outta him.http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/9230887/lawrence-okoye-gets-nfl-shot-san-francisco-49ers

Emergency swing tackle, I guess. If they want him to back up at the G/C spots, they did a really poor job developing Looney/Kilgore, etc last year.Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) tweeted at 4:35 PM on Mon, May 06, 2013:49ers re-signed their former OL Adam Snyder, whom Arizona recently released.
What's so bad about having Snyder back? He played almost every position on o-line except C with SF, and had to learn all those offenses - McCarthy, Turner, Hostler, Martz, Raye, and Harbaugh/Roman. Plus he's only 30 years old.Why not spend that Adam Snyder money on cribbs?

Crabtree tears Achilles tendon during OTAs. Will have surgery, and will be out most (if not all) of the upcoming season.

On the glass half full side, does this make it more likely he stays a Niner after his contract is up?
If he comes back healthy the end of this year/next year and picks up where he leaves off, I doubt he takes much of an injury discount. If he doesn't pick up where he left off, I don't know that we would be very excited about the Niners retaining him. This times 10 :(#### ####, mother ####er!!!!!!!

I'm hoping the San Francisco Sharks don't choke another playoffs this post-season.http://www.mercurynews.com/southbayfootball/ci_23198944/levis-stadium-49ers-new-santa-clara-home-gets
SANTA CLARA -- Get ready for Levi's Stadium.
The San Francisco 49ers have scored the West Coast's biggest naming-rights deal, announcing Wednesday that legendary San Francisco jeans-maker Levi Strauss will put its name on the team's new Santa Clara stadium when it opens next year.
The company will pay $220.3 million to the city of Santa Clara and the 49ers over 20 years to help pay for the $1.2 billion stadium, and Levi Strauss has the option of extending the deal for another five years for an additional $75 million or so. The total contract, which averages out to about $11 million per year in the first two decades, is believed to be at least the fourth-highest in NFL history.
...
The 49ers highlighted the sentimental value of the deal, noting that Levi Strauss helped turn San Francisco into the world-class city it is today when it was founded in 1873 to clothe the original 49ers who came west seeking gold. The team also loved the short, clean feel of the Levi's Stadium name -- though the 49er faithful are sure to debate that.
Levi Strauss has been promised four huge signs around the stadium, a pair of 50-yard-line luxury suites, 52 club seats, access to host four events a year at the stadium and plenty of perks that come with joining the family of an NFL team. The company can even tap star players such as quarterback Colin Kaepernick to woo customers and have coach Jim Harbaugh come in to pump up employees. And the stadium's 23,000-square-foot loft club will be called either Club 501 or the Denim Lounge.
Don't you have enough detractors fighting you in a bunch of other threads?Week 2, bring it.<----
“You can call me Jed. Everybody calls me Jed. My Little League team. Even the ####### prosecuters around town, they all call me Jed.”On the request of the prosecutors, the Santa Clara district attorney’s office decided not to issue an arrest warrant Wednesday for 49ers’ linebacker Ahmad Brooks.
According to police reports, Brooks smashed free-agent nose tackle Lamar Divens with a Heineken bottle which opened up a gash on Divens’ head that required three stitches. Brooks then allegedly punched the 345-pound Divens before threatening to get his gun. The incident allegedly occurred on June 8.
Divens was withholding Brooks’ truck keys from him so that the “very drunk” (according to the report) Brooks would not drive. Sacramento Bee reporter Matt Barrows pointed out that Divens missed a few days of minicamp, presumably because he might not have been able to get a helmet on his wounded head.
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell could very well suspend Brooks for violating the league’s personal conduct policy. And Goodell could impose a penalty even if Brooks is not charged, which Goodell did after Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger was accused of sexual assault.
Just like Uncle Eddie. Love it...............Looks like Jed York errrrr Amhad Brooks has a buddy in the Santa Clara DA’s office:

Ouch. I really liked Culliver's progress so far in his career. Let's hope for the best.Patrick Willis fractured his hand today in practice, says he will play through it.
Chris Culliver was carted off the practice field after suffering a non contact knee injury. He was in tears as he was carted off, doesn't sound good.
Culliver is currently 3rd on the depth chart behind Rogers and Brown. Nnamdi will most likely fill that spot with Culliver out.
Well, that's just great. NOW who is Brian Quick gonna throw to the turf on his way to the endzone?Ouch. I really liked Culliver's progress so far in his career. Let's hope for the best.Patrick Willis fractured his hand today in practice, says he will play through it.

Let's hope karma has nothing to do with idiotic comments from any 49er player or coach. Anthony Davis especially.Karma for his idiotic comments before the superbowl?
It seems like the team has a ton of average / slightly above average corners. I'm not sure any of them individually is good enough to lose too much sleep about.Spin said:Ouch. It's all about the defensive line anyway. Yet, there were a few games last season that opposing teams shredded the defense though the air. I think that was more to Justin Smith's injury. That shows how much impact he has on that defense. Justin is a beast. Everybody plays better around him.It seems like the team has a ton of average / slightly above average corners. You nailed that one. The defense was completely different after his injury. HIS is the injury I'm paying most attention to.It's all about the defensive line anyway. If the defense still trends downwards on TO ratio (which given the past two years, the drop still will keep them amongst the best defenses in the NFL because they are insane there), and if Aldon Smith can't dominate without Justin, the offense may have to pick up the defense. Now without Crabs, Jenkins looking like bust or at least still struggling, the others WR's not 100%...You nailed that one. The defense was completely different after his injury. (And praying for WR's that can do something for Kaep.)
ETA to add: of course, I'm bummed for Culliver as I would be with any contributing player.
WR is a somewhat similar position in my mind. A great QB can get by with a medicore set of wideouts, just like a great pass rush will make the CBs look better. And I think Kaepernick will be that type of QB.You nailed that one. The defense was completely different after his injury. Yeah, and it could very well wind up the thinnest squad on the team.We have 14 WRs on the roster right now....the first round of cuts will be interesting
