You can lose your job to injury, as well as a large part of your contract.ETA: I see Hurley crying to Maiocco about crediting him as a source paid off. My linkI would like Asomugha. And bring in Woodson to play Safety?A former Raiders teammate of cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha and safety Charles Wooodson reported early Friday that the 49ers are in "serious discussion" with the two players.
Akbar Gbajabiamila, who played linebacker for the Raiders in 2003 and '04 and now works for the NFL Network, earlier wrote on Twitter he predicted the "Bay Area will return two of its favorite sons."
Asomugha played for the Raiders from 2003 to 2010, while Woodson was in Oakland from 1998 to 2005.
I like Culliver a lot. Has all the physical tools to be a top corner. Had a horrible super bowl, but that happens to young players sometimes. As far as Ashmugha, he was considered the best CB behind Revis two years ago. He sucked last year, but hard for me to believe he just "lost" it. The couple games I watched Philly last year, there were open receivers all over the place. In the Carolina game, there were two long TDs that I don't think I have ever seen receivers more wide open on. Just a bad team defense. Worth a look anyway and at the right price, could be a good signing and could work with Culliver and Brown in nickel packages, which in the NFL these days is basically a base defense anyway. Big corner.49ers sign Skuta to two-year contract

Point of reference from @PFF, opposing passer ratings vs. last season: Tarell Brown 75.2, Culliver 76.9, Carlos Rogers 92.9, Nnamdi Asomugha 120.6.
Regular season only. I was surprised how well Culliver / Brown did. Maybe it's because Julio abusing Brown and Ravens abusing Culliver is still fresh in my mind. Hmm, maybe I wouldn't like Asomugha.
The seahawks are doing it right though because you can stack a team now because both the 49ers and seahawks are in situations where they have invested nothing at the qb position. If RW and CK have outstanding years next year they are going to require outstanding salaries. That's why seattle has been giving out mainly short deals. The 49ers have some young guys to lock up soon as well so there is going to have to be big money flying aroudn soon. This is a great year to go out and sign some one and two year deals for those final pieces'efactor said:I like what the Niners are doing. Other than maybe Harvin I don't think the Seahawks have been recklessly spending money. They made a few nice pickups at surprisingly short term and low dollar amounts, IMO.The seahawks are doing it right though because you can stack a team now because both the 49ers and seahawks are in situations where they have invested nothing at the qb position. Yeah, I saw them give 7.5 million a year to an undersized DE who had a whopping combined 35 tackles and assists in 2012. Guess what he did when he went up against Anthony Davis in week 2? Nada. No sacks, no tackles, no assists. Zero. A doughnut. There is a reason the "best pass rusher available in free agency" signed for such a partly sum. Nobody else was rushing to sign him. He benefited from lining up next to Suh, who gets double teamed pretty much every play. Well, Mr. Suh will be several thousand miles away on Sundays this year. Not a terrible signing by the Hawks, but not the kind of move that puts them over the top either. It's like they won the super bowl already after this signing. Guy is very limited in his game. 9 1/2 sacks when you do nothing else is not production enough for 7.5 million a year IMO. If you are looking short term, Abraham would have been a better move. I realize that in your mind, everything Seattle does is just amazing. I love the child like wonder of teenagers rooting for their favorite team. Enjoy.........Did you see the contracts they signed their two free agent signings to? I'm guessing not.'efactor said:I like what the Niners are doing. OK, but I just think Avril is overrated. I would much rather have Abraham if you are talking the next couple years. The seahawks are doing it right though because you can stack a team now because both the 49ers and seahawks are in situations where they have invested nothing at the qb position. OK. But the media was acting like Avril was the second coming of Alden Smith...............Avril definitely isn't anything special but he was a decent pickup at a position of need.

Trying to break up a fight at again, one of the many raging parties at his house post his DUI.I'm not saying he is Lawrence Phillips. But he did have issues that are character related that happened to get into the press. Whether he toned it down and wised up we don't know, because there was alcohol involved in both those incidents. Then explain Harbaugh. He comes across really well when you see him interviewed. Respectful of the game and his teammates. Very humble, which is generally not a characteristic of someone with alcohol issues. At this point, I am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt and contribute it to being a young man and not being wise to the world as far as the situations you put yourself in. Certainly, if it continues, then I will reevaluate.
Compared to some of the young players you see, I think he will be OK.

That's just above scrub $$, with little expectation on the return. Body $$ if you will. All signs look to fortifying thru the draft, which IMO is the way to go. Just get more pass rush to backup Justin Smith. I'd rather a youth movement in the defensive backfield. The only place to eat when I did gigs at the SC Marriott was either the hotel restaurant or Bennigan's greasy menu across the street. Luckily San Jose is a short cab ride away. Believe what you want, but ask a Ram fan. The guy isn't very good. My opinion though is that Goldson wasn't anything special, and certainly not worth $8mil/year. SF's front seven made the secondary look better than it actually was. Look at the numbers after Justin Smith got hurt and the pass rush all but disappeared.
