*** San Francisco 49ers *** Kittle locked down til 2029; Purdy contract watch underway (4 Viewers)

Injury update:

Head coach Kyle Shanahan didn't have much to report regarding injuries after the San Francisco 49ers' win over the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday. He only mentioned offensive lineman Jon Feliciano, who exited with a concussion. However, he noted that there may be more updates on Monday, the day after the game.

Shanahan jumped on a conference call on Monday afternoon and shared the following updates.

As expected, Feliciano is in the concussion protocol.

Per Shanahan, wide receiver Deebo Samuel is still dealing with knee and rib injuries. Running back Elijah Mitchell is still working through a knee injury. A shin injury still hampers wide receiver Jauan Jennings.

Neither Mitchell nor Jennings were active against the Cardinals. All three players are considered day-to-day.

Quiet in here lately. Winning and looking great doing it cures a lot of ills. 😃

Through four weeks, the 49ers have two Offensive Player of the Week awards (Aiyuk Week 1, McCaffrey Week 4) and the Offensive Player of the Month (McCaffrey).

Check what Jerry Jones said:

"The 49ers are, right now, probably the most likely team to go win the Super Bowl,” Jones said Tuesday on the Shan & RJ show on 105.3 The Fan in Dallas, “But in order for them to get there, they have to go by us, hopefully, two times if that's the way it falls in the playoffs, and we're in the playoffs, of course.”

Sunday can't get here fast enough.

More fun stuff.

49ers boast highest-graded player at 4 positions, PFF reports.

According to the analytics site's assessments, the 49ers stand out with the highest-graded player at four different positions. They are Nick Bosa at edge rusher, Brandon Aiyuk at wide receiver, Trent Williams at tackle, and Christian McCaffrey at running back.

Bosa's remarkable overall grade of 93.8 leads all NFL defenders, and his 92.7 pass-rushing grade ranks second behind Myles Garrett. Despite his absence from training camp and the preseason, only six edge rushers have surpassed Bosa's 20 pressures, while his nine hits top the NFL.

Aiyuk is the NFL's highest-graded offensive player, boasting an impressive receiving grade of 93.6. This puts him ahead of marquee names like Tyreek Hill and Justin Jefferson. Furthermore, the 49ers wideout has yet to drop a pass, hauling in 17 passes for 320 yards and two touchdowns.

Trent Williams stands as the second-highest graded offensive lineman, with Dallas Cowboys' Tyler Smith edging him out by a narrow margin (93.1). Williams has only allowed three total pressures this season and has not allowed a sack.

Meanwhile, running back Christian McCaffrey was just named the NFC Offensive Player of the Year after racking up 177 all-purpose yards and four total touchdowns in Week 4 against the Arizona Cardinals. That includes 106 yards gained on the ground and 71 through the air.

McCaffrey's league-leading carries (80), rushing yards (459), and rushing touchdowns (6) highlight his dominance this season. He has 98 touches for 600 all-purpose yards and seven total touchdowns through four games. McCaffrey's 14 plays of 10 or more rushing yards lead all NFL running backs.

They are who I thought they were. I was a bit hesitant to just how good Purdy would look coming back from injury but he’s been simply amazing. Well, and how the offense line would perform - so far so good on that front. All of the pieces are there and the team looks focused and determined. A deep run towards another championship is well within reach. Just gotta keep everyone healthy.

I appreciate all of your posts, Wingnut.

Getting healthier going into the weekend!

Practice injury update from Nick Wagoner:

During early open portion of Thursday’s #49ers practice:

Only player I did not see was RB Elijah Mitchell (knee). OL Jon Feliciano (concussion) was in uniform but working on the side.

Deebo Samuel, Jauan Jennings, Dre Greenlaw, Charvarius Ward were all participating.

Broncos trade pass rusher Randy Gregory to the 49ers

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that the Broncos are sending Gregory and a 2024 seventh-round draft pick to the 49ers in exchange for a 2024 sixth-round pick.

You can never have too many edge rushers.

49ers’ front-seven:

Warner-Greenlaw-Burks
Bosa-Hargrave-Armstead-Gregory

Niners front office wizards do it again...

Broncos are paying all of the remaining prorated $14M base salary, minus the prorated veteran minimum. It's the same amount the Broncos would have paid if he had been released and signed elsewhere for the prorated vet minimum.

So the 49ers are only paying Randy Gregory the veteran minimum — or $840,000 for the rest of this season.

Gregory is under contract through 2026, but nothing is guaranteed beyond this season so SF has full flexibility.

Reminds me of the Robert Quinn trade the Eagles made last year. Can't hurt to take a swing, but this guy I dunno. I don't think he likes football.

I was wondering about this. Was about to post that the Broncos won by getting a team to pay him the fully guaranteed ~$11 MM they still owe him, but nope, all they got was the late round trade of picks. Guess it's better than nothing for them, but the Niners did well to secure him before he hit the open market. I'm sure Dallas and Philly would've been lurking.

Low risk high reward. Being traded to a contender might change his attitude/work ethic.

Lynch/Shanahan have a good track record for in season trades for pass rushers.

Akash:

#49ers have traded for Jordan Willis and Charles Omenihu mid-season in past seasons and both players have come up with huge plays for the team.

Gregory's arguably the most talented of the three. The 49ers just need to put him through the school of Kris Kocurek..

We have early day 1 picks again!

Even after the Randy Gregory trade, the 49ers still hold a projected 11 picks in the 2024 NFL Draft (a 6th-rounder goes to Denver and a 7th-rounder comes back to SF) — this draft marks a major part of their team-sustenance plan:

1. Round 1
2. Round 2
3. Round 3
4. Round 3 comp
5. Round 3 comp
6. Round 4
7. Round 4 (via Trey Lance trade)
8. Round 5 comp
9. Round 6 (traded to Denver for Randy Gregory)
10. Round 6 comp
11. Round 7
12. Round 7 (received from Denver in Gregory trade)

The 49ers are releasing Kerry Hyder to make room on the roster for Randy Gregory.

They must really like Kalia Davis to keep him rostered and inactive. I wonder if/when he will get some playing time.

49ers' in-season trade history...

2017: Jimmy Garoppolo
2019: Emmanuel Sanders
2020: Jordan Willis
2021: Charles Omenihu
2022: Christian McCaffrey
2023: Randy Gregory

That's a stellar track record. Every one of those players became a positive contributor (Gregory TBD)

Add Laken Tomlinson to this list. The 49ers literally have a 100% hit rate on these in-season trades and they’ve probably been the most aggressive team in the NFL in pursuing them.

guy doesn’t seem interested in football.
Curious, based on what? He was a top 10 pass rusher 3 seasons in a row before he got hurt 6 games in last season.

He ranked lower this season but maybe he doesnt like Sean Payton. Not hard to imagine.

I never heard of him before yesterday, so I don't know anything about him, but I'm always for low risk high reward moves.

The front office has shown they're not opposed to pulling the trigger on in season trades, I'm wondering if we see them trade for a CB before the deadline. They've got a TON of cap space, if they're going all in, let's go ALL IN. We're gonna need solid CB2 play vs the Eagles as well as the Rams with a healthy Kupp.

Just what I’ve read about him and based on the history, seems like there could be something to it. Good low risk move though, imo

I remember when Ninaz fans here wanted to ban me because of what I posted about Jimmy Garoppolo

I may not always be right, but I just know that they aren't nearly as bright

Hard to not love what I watched tonight! Really, can’t find much to criticize, and as someone who has posted in these 49ers’ threads for a decade, I usually can criticize anything.
This is the best Niners team I’ve watched since 94-95. I guess the closest thing to a worry I have with them is that you don’t want to be peaking in October. Hope they can maintain this focus over the long haul. I’m guessing Cleveland gives them their hardest game of the season (not a high bar).

49ers are #1 in the NFL in point differential at +99, they’re also #1 in points allowed at 68.

Through 5 games, 49ers’ defense is giving up a a little over 13 points per game.

This team is the best 49er team since 1988/89, this is classic peak 49er football. They are going to win the Super Bowl this season, and Jed will finally have his own Socialist State of Santa Clara before he get indicted. and even then still win while he's in jail.

That's how good this team is.

I agree with the peaking in October, but that’s less of a concern for me. My biggest concerns are injury.

In this order, these guys need to be healthy to make the run this year:

CMC. The offense runs on the him being the ultimate threat, losing that threat, and we’d really find out if Brock is good (I believe he’s proven that much) or if he is truly great.

Brock. He runs this offense magnificently. I am however hopeful that Darnold can be a competent backup, but I’d prefer to not find out.

Bosa. He draws 2 blockers as much as anyone in the NFL, freeing others up.

Greenlaw/Warner. Best LB tandem in the NFL, imo.

Trent Williams. He protects Brock’s blindside and he’s the best in the game.

I’m not understating or underestimating the importance of Kittle/Aiyuk/Deebo/(insert DB name here), but I believe they’re good enough to withstand losing 1 of those guys and having someone adequate enough to keep us rolling, but if those 6 I mentioned stay healthy, I find it tough for this squad to be beaten when it’s all on the line.

And just to add, if Shanny is going to win one and silence all the doubters and haters (I’ve been on that bandwagon before), this is the squad and this is the season. The pieces are all in place. Secondary which has been the weak point is finally strong and QB appears to have been addressed.

Ok. so we can de copulate (ot un****) the bad takes here:

Cowboys defense had two obvious objectives this game:

Take CMC out of the game - CMC finished with his worst game do far of this season, 10 carries for 51 yards, with only 2 carries for 27 yards...

Take Ayuik out of the game - to which the Cowboy defense had, with he finishing with only 4 catches for 58 yards an 0tds...

Deebo Samuel? Not even 100 yards combined this game.

This game was predicated on two players: Brock Purdy and Fred Warner. George Kitle being the benefactor in this.

Simple: On offense - Purdy. On defense - Warner.

This is not for 49er fans in this thread to read, they are ruled by Tampa Elon, who fires engineers who call him out.

With a Linda Currsarinno following him.

This was Brock Purdy's game. Yet even with GEQBUS they can still win. Just not in the playoffs.

JFC, this 49er fan thread is still worse after all these years.

15 straight regular season wins ties a franchise record.

The previous streak was from week 12 of the 1989 season to week 10 of the 1990 season.

If we can stay healthy, Lombardi #6 is coming.

Fred Warner is the first 49er to have a sack, INT, and forced fumble in a game since Navorro Bowman in 2013.

Its going under the radar a little due to only having 2 sacks, but I think Nick Bosa has been better than ever so far this season.

I didn't think he should have been DPOY last season, but through 5 weeks I'd vote for him this year.

Casual fans don't see it, but he's absolutely dominating. It crazy going into last night we were 22nd in sacks, with this D Line it feels like we should have a ton, but SFs D Line is ranked pretty high in pressures, and QBs are getting the ball out quick to counter the pass rush.

Even though Bosa is the highest graded defensive player this season, he won't get DPOY consideration without gaudy sack numbers, and that's fine, we're lucky to have him.

Good morning football had a segment today titled "Are 5-0 Eagles underappreciated due to love for 5-0 49ers?"

Lol. No shame in being the 2nd best team in the conference right now. They might as well get used to it.
