Does it just kill 49ers fans that you went from a crazy deep/talented roster under Harbaugh to this steaming pile of a clown show? What a fall.

Obviously it doesn't matter, which is why I guess it won't ever be mentioned, but I'm genuinely curious...can someone explain to me why the 49ers got the ball on the 1-yard line after that punt (which then ultimately led to the safety)? When the kicking team throws it back to the 4 yard line and then downs it there, shouldn't the ball be placed at the 4?

Not really, everyone saw it coming, and it serves the Yorks and front office right. I hope they suck out loud until someone else owns the team. Until then, I can go fishing on Sundays again and not worry about missing anything good.

There is absolutely zero reason to continue to have Palmer playing in this game with the blowout intact. Dumb.
What is the worst that could happen? It's not like Palmer is going blow out his acl and the Cards will have to play out the year with one of the best teams in the NFL being quarterbacked by a pile of donkey crap.

Is that why they were just ### kickers last year when he went to the IR? It is a stupid move.

Think you missed the sarcasm.

Harbug is lucky he skipped town because he would not have made a difference.
You probably actually believe that.
I know it buddy. This team is garbage. Lost how many guys in the offeeason? You actually think Harbug would get them wins with the turd QB they have? They won because of D.

Its probably true. Harbaugh lost the locker room halfway through last season. His run there was done at that point. Had he stayed, a few currently departed players might have stayed as well, but Kaep is still Kaep and this team will go nowhere with him at the helm, Harbaugh or no Harbaugh.

How much was that Harbaugh as a coach and how much was that the conflict between the GM and Harbaugh?

Looks like I won't get any takers on this, so I tried to look it up myself. Here's what I found:

the receivers shall have the option of taking possession of the ball at the spot of first touching, provided no penalty is accepted on the play, or at the spot where the ball is dead
So the only way spotting that punt at the 1 makes sense is if they called it dead at the 1 and not at the 4, which to me seems like a bad call. Maybe not as bad as the Bowman penalty call, but still bad and it prevented Kaepernick from having more time to go for his 5th interception.

Id say 50/50.

Yup after further review I misread. My apologies. Was a bit fired up to see him go back in. This team can take it all the way with a healthy Palmer. I am impressed but need to see more from some of the better teams they will face.
