***San Francisco at Los Angeles*** (-3.5) 45.5u Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (1 Viewer)

The Niners have been The Rams El Guapo very recently. The qb matchup screams L.A. The Niners will not adjust what they do best so they will try to run and run somemore. Aaron Donald and his friends up front will do their best Dikembe Motumbo and say "no...no...no". I don't have a real strong opinion on this game,so.....a coin flip for me.....in overtime.....

San Fransisco- 30

Los Angeles- 27

Hard not to like SF +3.5
That's where I laid my KC/BUF profits (after investing in Bengals +7)

The O/U is difficult for both games, and I'm staying away.

I am a little bit surprised that the SF line hasn't moved. I was hoping it would get to +4.5 on the heels of the Rams throttling the Bucs.

Rams aren't going to botch it this time. Too good of an all around team. I think they win 27-20 and nfc team gets to host the super bowl 2 years in a row. Mahomes is not pleased.

Mahomes
Stafford
Burrow

Take it back a few weeks and you can add Prescott, Brady, Rodgers, Tannehill & arguably Roethlisburger to that list. Thank goodness it's a team sport and not a QB Skills competition with a bunch of hanging tires set up on the field.

\This was all the talk before the playoffs started - JimmyG was the worst QB in the post-season. And yet they're now 1 game from the Super Bowl, because they play great defense, and they can run the ball. And not for nuthin, they have historically owned McVay & the Rams.

Stafford has looked good since they've minimized his role a little bit & kept him from making JimmyG-esque plays, but prior to the playoffs he had a knack for throwing the untimely pick, and even a few pick-6's.

I'm not saying the Niners are a lock or anything silly like that. The Rams should be more than a 3.5 point favorite here. But I like the Niners to keep it close. They have a team built for postseason play.  And as bad as JimmyG's stat line looked on the frozen tundra, Kittle dropped a wide open perfect pass that would have been a certain house call - he catches that ball & JimmyG's numbers overall look a lot more palatable.  Still an ugly pick, yeah. Hopefully he can minimize those types of mistakes in this game. But weather shouldn't be a factor here, and I think they have at least a puncher's chance.

That's what everyone said about Aaron Rodgers last week. Literally, "Rodgers is too good to mess this up" and "Packers are way too good for the 49ers to spoil it for them for a 4th time".

I'm just sayin. The 49ers had other plans.

I have a list:

Which one of these seems significantly different from the others:

                                                                                                                                            Trent Dilfer

                                                                                                                                             Brad Johnson

                                                                                                                                            Joe Flacco

                                                                                                                                            Dan Marino

Hint: one of them never won a Super Bowl.

Just saying. It's the playoffs, one game, win or go fishing. Anything can happen.

If Mahomes has a bad game, are the Chiefs likely to win?

If Burrow has a bad game, are the Bengals likely to win?

If Stafford has a bad game, are the Rams likely to win?

Jimmy G has had pretty bad games the past few weeks, and yet the 49ers have beaten Stafford, Prescott, and Rodgers (all on the road). In those 3 games, Jimmy has a total of 1 TD and 4 INTs. That lone TD was against the Rams in week 17. And yet they still won.

The difference between the 49ers and the other 3 teams left standing is that Jimmy can have a bad to average game and they can still win. They don't NEED their QB to light it up, but the other 3 teams pretty much do to have a chance to win.

With the way SFs defense is playing, any QB they face has a good chance of having a bad day. And that's what the Niners do. They make good QBs have bad days.

All that said, I say Jimmy will toss 2 TDs and have 1 INT Sunday. And that will be good enough to get a win

Is it Sunday yet?

I think Mahomes is fine. The Chiefs will stomp either of these teams IMO.

Don’t forget that not only is Rodgers is better than Stafford, Rodgers had home field advantage in that game.

I'd be curious to see how DeMeco Ryans calls defense against KC vs how Saleh called it. Ryans seems to be more aggressive and makes adjustments better. He's been nothing short of phenomenal as a defensive play caller.

Okay, but it is as simple as the better QB should win, which seems to be what you are implying, then how does Jimmy G have four playoff wins in the last three years?  How did Mark Sanchez once beat Peyton Manning and Tom Brady back to back on the road in the playoffs?  And on a more macro level, why do we care who coaches what team, or what defense is better, or which team has better skill position players?  If it is as simple, "Team A has the better QB than Team B, thus Team A will win," then gambling should be easy, right? ;)

Assuming the Rams don’t have a special teams meltdown I think they win this in a romp. Jimmy G throws the ball to the opposition 2 or 3 times a game. I think the Rams catch a couple of these and take one to the house. I feel like Akers is gonna have a redemption game. I see success for him through the air.

Rams 34 Niners 13.

It’s time to post this in this game day thread as well now, with a little update. In the past decade the 49ers have now appeared in 13 post season games (9-4). They have not lost a game by more than 11 pts (the Super Bowl vs KC) and the other three losses were by 6, 3, and 3 respectively. Odds would say that they aren’t getting blown out in this one.

I’ll also add that Stafford gave the ball to the 49ers four times in the two regular season games this year. People act like he’s infallible all of the sudden. We’ll see.

Can’t wait till kickoff!

How many “romps” have the Rams won over the last 6 meetings between these teams?

Did they win in a romp 3 weeks ago?

Food for thought.

he also had a nasty trend of throwing pick-6s in a few regular season games as well. Cleaned it up in the playoffs, so far.

This Niners team reminds me of Strahan Giants team that beat the Pats the FIRST time in The Super Bowl. They have a qb who gets little respect,a strong running game and a defense that makes enough plays to keep them in a game late into the fourth quarter. That Giants team went on the road the entire playoffs as this Niners team has. Just talking to myself here noticing the similarities.

The Rams have a healthy Von Miller now who is gonna wreck Jimmy G. I think Stafford knows how big this is and will have a big game. I think the Rams get off to a big lead and don’t let the Niners back in it this time. The Niners should have been stomped last week but got lucky with Green Bays horrible special teams and Conservative game plan. They will take the Niners out of their run run game plan and force Jimmy to throw.

I'll go with the Rams 27-17. Its so hard to beat a team 3 times ion one season, and I'd argue the week 18 game was kind of a fluke.

I think the Rams are able to shut down Deebo and make someone else beat them, and while I think Kittle, Mitchell or Aiyuk are capable of doing so, I'm not sure Jimmy G is. I could also see Aaron Donald just taking over the middle of the trenches and giving little time to pass.

Both Dallas and GB had terrible game plans against SF. The way to beat them is to throw outside the numbers. GB did it for 1 drive, and seemingly forgot. Dallas didn't figure it out until it was too late. I think the Rams come out firing, and are able to scheme some easy throws for Stafford, likely to Kupp, and put the 49ers in a whole they just can't climb out of.

Trent Williams is the X factor today for SF. If he plays, and how healthy/effective he is, will have a big impact on the outcome IMO.

As a 49er fan, I'll say this: I never expected them to make it this far, so if they lose, I'll be ready for it. And if they do lose, I'll be rooting for Stafford in the SB, even though Ive never rooted for division rivals in a SB before. I've just always liked/respected Stafford and think if he gets a ring it will put him in the Hall of Fame.

ETA: as much as I DONT want McVay to get a ring, the only way Stafford is gonna get one is with LA, so I gotta just deal with it.

Game day!!!  Let’s go Rams!  Can’t wait. Got some low and slow baby backs in the egg, cold drinks waiting and have already warned the neighbors that if they here screaming don’t worry.  Lol.  Should be fun.

they’ve beaten them 6 straight times. I mean, at some point it’s a pattern, no?

I'm torn here. I really want the Rams to win cause Stafford paid more than his fair share of dues in Detroit.....but that ###hat OBJ is there too.
