Santana Moss - any value going forward? Dynasty Value? (1 Viewer)

Ok -

I was one buying the Santana Moss / Jason Campbell connection all preseason. And even though he got off to a slow start - he was part of the offense and just barely missed on some long throws that would have made him a great play the 1st 3 weeks. Instead he was very pedestrian.

After week 3 he injured his groin and it has been all down hill since.

What are owners doing with S. Moss in dynasty. Is he a top 25 dynasty WR going forward or is it time to cut ties and move on?

My personal opinion:

I thought Santana was going to return to form this year. But the poor offensive line play, injuries, and the development of Campbell have slowed him down this year. I would like to think he can make an impact down the stretch this season and be a solid play next year.

I though he was the ultimate #3 WR in fantasty. His bust weeks were supposed to be 5-8 points (typical #3 WR) and his boom weeks would singlehandedly win you games.

That said - I am still drinking the Santana Moss coolaide for another few weeks. In most leagues I don't think there is anything on the waiver wire that have more upside than he does.

I am ready to get off the Moss bandwagon. However, I have 2 WR's on bye this week. If he does not produce this week, I am all over the waiver wire.

I'm sticking with him. Well for this week I don't have any choice, but I still think he's going to be a good FF WR by the end of the season.

I think I am hoping to see a little more discussion about him and his Dynasty value.

I think everyone can agree that he has under performed so far and it is a prayer that he gets it turned around THIS season. Maybe 60% say no way, and 40% think he can get it going.

But for next year - what is the thinking? Return to 2005 numbers? More of 2006 numbers? or What we see right now is just the beginning of the end?

He can get better, but it really depends on the offensive line. Jason Campbell looks better and better with every start.

I'm also in the same boat starting him this week due to byes and Javon's injury but I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the matchup this week, I expect Washington to try to stay in the game this week and air it out more then usual since they cannot afford to fall another game back in the division.

I honestly think it's Al Saunders' offense that's F###ed. Every play seems to go sideways, and try to run around the defense, instead of going down the field. I had Moss because he's supposed to be a deep threat, but the Skins don't go deep.

I think they're taking it conservative with Campbell right now, Moss is a great buy low in Dynasty.
I think a lot has to do with the redskins anemic ball control offense. They also haven't found themselves in a hole this year, or had any real garbage time. This week that could change. If they want a chance at beating NE this week they are going to have to stretch the field. Their running game isn't good this year, probably because they've become so one-dimensional. If they go 3 and out a couple of times it'll be 21-0 before you know it, and this week they'll have no choice but to get Moss more involved in the game. Moss had had one good half all year, which was week 2 against the Eagles where he had 5 catches and the redskins were moving the ball. They need to get him more involved, no more nursing 1st quarter leads, and hoping their ulta-conservative offense works. I think he'll bounce back this week despite the bad matchup.

he only had 2! targets last week I think it is a culmination of things that have led to his situation...his breakdown against the packers, his injury, and overall loss of faith in him by Campbell
