Which one of these veterans is going to have a better season? And why?
are you kidding me? Campbell > Garcia?! lol what games are you watching.might Campbell end up being better than Garcia in the future? sure, that's possible. but 2007-8? no way.2006-7: similar playtime for both QBscampbell: 110/207 (53%) 1297yds 10TD 6Int 76.5ratinggarcia: 116/188 1309yds 10TD 2Int 95.8ratinggarcia was on the better team, but you might argue that again this year as well.Santana, because he is more talented and has a better QB.
Wow, what a valid comparison that was....are you kidding me? Campbell > Garcia?! lol what games are you watching.might Campbell end up being better than Garcia in the future? sure, that's possible. but 2007-8? no way.2006-7: similar playtime for both QBscampbell: 110/207 (53%) 1297yds 10TD 6Int 76.5ratinggarcia: 116/188 1309yds 10TD 2Int 95.8ratinggarcia was on the better team, but you might argue that again this year as well.Santana, because he is more talented and has a better QB.
I'll tell you what. Bring your 36 year old Rice and I'll bring my 36 year old Galloway, and we'll race.Santana, because he's not playing at an age where even the elitest of the elite talents (not named Jerry Rice) have fallen off the face of the planet.
ditto...I decided on Galloway over Moss as my WR3...of course it doesn't hurt that I have Harrison and Housh also.Joey Galloway wasn't half bad last season. With nothing at quarterback he still had over 1000 yards and 7 touchdowns and was a top 15 wr. Jeff Garcia has to be considered an upgrade over Simms and Gradkowski so he should at worst maintain his 2006 production. He's old though. 35 going on 36. It's hard to see the wheels come off so suddenly with him but it's possible. Santana Moss was disappointing last season. He had over 600 yards in 06 than he did in 2005. He missed 2 games so his totals look a little better but he wasn't that great in 2006. How you feel about Santana Moss I guess depends on how you feel about Jason Campbell. If you think he's mediocre then Moss will be the same. If he's ready to break through then Moss will benefit. If I had to pick from the two I'd go with Galloway simply because you can draft him later and I like his quarterback situation better than Moss'.
Santana Moss has scored under 5 points seven times in the past 2 years. Joey Galloway has done it nine times during that same span. Joey Galloway has posted a pair of zeros in EACH of the last two seasons (four total over that span), while Santana Moss has none over that same span. How anyone could suggest that Santana Moss is more likely to disappear than Galloway is entirely beyond me. Galloway is by far the more likely of the two to become utterly invisible, and given his age, I don't see any reason to expect that tendency to suddenly reverse any time soon.Galloway is a better value by far, and Moss has a tendency to disappear. Galloway does that too, at times, getting zeroed for entire games (I believe he pulled that stunt twice last season), but Moss can suddenly check out for weeks at a time. Campbell is untested and I like Garcia better for 2007.
Hey, tell you what. I'll bring my 28 year old Jerry Rice and you bring your 28 year old Joey Galloway and we'll race. What does Galloway being faster than Rice have to do with anything at all? Are you suggesting that Galloway will do as well as Rice because he's faster? He's been faster his entire career, and we all have seen what's come of that so far.I'll tell you what. It has about as much to do with anything at all as bringing Rice into the conversation in the first place - nothing.Joey's game was, is and always will be about speed. Comparing him to Rice isWhat does Galloway being faster than Rice have to do with anything at all? Are you suggesting that Galloway will do as well as Rice because he's faster? Better offensive scheme for Receivers: GallowayCurrent ADP:Moss 58Galloway 75Stats for last 3 years:Moss:55 790 14.4 684 1483 17.7 945 838 18.6 5Galloway:62 1057 17.0 783 1287 15.5 1033 416 12.6 5Hmmmmm........Better coaching Staff: WashingtonBetter Running attack: WashingtonBetter O-Line: WashingtonBetter QB: for now you have to say Gracia, but Campbell did look good last yr.Moss >>>> Galloway
You're ignoring/missing the fact that in at least half of the games that Moss played (essentially the second half of the season when Campbell was the QB BTW) he had a sore hammy that greatly limited his explosiveness. After resting and rehabbing the hammy, he's healthy now.Joey Galloway wasn't half bad last season. With nothing at quarterback he still had over 1000 yards and 7 touchdowns and was a top 15 wr. I'd say the size of Tampa Bay's QB upgrade is at least equal to Washington's.Given that, though, I'd still say Campbell to Moss > Garcia to GallowayPeople who didn't watch the Skins last year have no idea how horrible Brunell was. With Campbell starting this year, I don't think there's another team with a bigger upgrade at qb going into the start of this season as compared to the start of last year, than Washington.
My thoughts as well, Moss can break one at anytime and WAS should have a more balanced offense. I think Garcia is a bit of an edge over Campbell, but I can't get past Galloway's age: 36 v 28.The Skins should be one of the top rushing teams in the league which will set up playaction to Moss deep. And don't forget that Moss is a threat to take it to the house no matter where he catches the ball on the field.
Potentially Green Miami as well. Schaub in Houston will be interesting to watch too, though I have more modest expectations .I'd say the size of Tampa Bay's QB upgrade is at least equal to Washington's.Given that, though, I'd still say Campbell to Moss > Garcia to GallowayPeople who didn't watch the Skins last year have no idea how horrible Brunell was. Galloway is the safer play and can get him later. I don't trust lingering muscle strains. There is some concern about lingering groin/hip problems and his workload is being curtailed a bit. Bubba said that Santana has been experiencing discomfort in his groin, based on him compensating. Moss missed much of the offseason with the groin/hip problem. "He feels like he's compensating a little bit on his leg, so he's got a soreness in his groin instead of the hip flexor/abdominal area (which he hurt this offseason. I asked specifically if Santana had been compensating for discomfort in his hamstring - a problem with him going back several years - and Bubba said that Santana was compensating for "his leg in general, the other part, the hip flexor." Could be a case where they rest him in the scrimmage as well.
I know Moss is dinged up right now and that puts him at a disadvantage to Joey at the current time, but Galloway is never a safe play - his career is riddled with injuries. That's the nature of these speed burners like Galloway and Moss, the slightest tweaks can really screw up their game.Galloway is the safer play and can get him later. "safer" and going later. Galloway has not been on the injury report since 2004. :knocksonwood:Gr00vus said:I know Moss is dinged up right now and that puts him at a disadvantage to Joey at the current time, but Galloway is never a safe play - his career is riddled with injuries. Dexter Manley said:I think Moss is one of the best value picks at wr this year. He's being drafted as a mid to late WR2, and if he stays healthy all year, I'll be surprised if he doesn't put up WR1 #'s, or high WR2 #'s at the worst. I think he'll definitely outproduce his ADP. People who didn't watch the Skins last year have no idea how horrible Brunell was. With Campbell starting this year, I don't think there's another team with a bigger upgrade at qb going into the start of this season as compared to the start of last year, than Washington.Campbell throws a good and accurate deep ball. He looked excellent against the Steelers last week, until he got hurt, and he was w/out the left side of his starting oline that game (inlcuding an undrafted rookie playing LT). The Skins just acquired Kendall from the Jets, who is a huge upgrade over what they had at LG, so the biggest leak on the offense should now be fixed. The Skins should be one of the top rushing teams in the league which will set up playaction to Moss deep. And don't forget that Moss is a threat to take it to the house no matter where he catches the ball on the field.

I'm unaware of any limitations upon his practice or game play since then. Maybe I missed it, but I'm just sayin'.By Jason La Canfora | August 1, 2007; 11:07 AM ET
I never compared him to Jerry Rice in the first place. I said that every 36 year old WR other than Jerry Rice has pretty much just fallen off of a cliff. That's not a comparison to Jerry Rice, that's a comparison to every non-Jerry Rice WR in history. It has about as much to do with anything at all as bringing Rice into the conversation in the first place - nothing.Joey's game was, is and always will be about speed. He's been faster his entire career, and we all have seen what's come of that so far., why you bother to do that I can't understand. Joey hasn't slowed down and hasn't showed signs of doing so. I don't know how or why he's managed to retain his skills this late into his career, but that's how it is.Joey's the consummate all or nothing receiver, you don't get consistency from him, you get huge days, big days and useless days. That's the nature of Joey. Be one with it or look elsewhere for your WR3.
