it looks like he is never getting open and does not fight for the ball when it is thrown to him. Did we all overrate this guy or is there something I am missing here?

Umm, are you aware of the some of the key (side) effects of marijuana usage? Start there and work your way down.it looks like he is never getting open and does not fight for the ball when it is thrown to him. Did we all overrate this guy or is there something I am missing here?
You beat me to it! Seriously, smoking the tobaccy is certainly kind of fun, but when you're job involves being the sharpest knife in any given drawer - at least during the SEASON, it isn't gonna help you be that guy.Santonio needs to get his head screwed on straight. Smoking is for AFTER the career ends, not while it's in progress and certainly not in-season.Too much Smokey McPotit looks like he is never getting open and does not fight for the ball when it is thrown to him. You mean you found someone dumb enough to do that trade?Traded Holmes/Stewart for Gore.
Apparantly. You mean you found someone dumb enough to do that trade?Traded Holmes/Stewart for Gore.
So for football performance:Cocaine =If Matt Jones can turn it around, so can Holmes.

I agree with this. I think you guys would be absolutely amazed at who smokes pot whether it's the NFL or NBA and many of the player's performance is still at a high level......no pun intended. What's going on with Holmes has to do with the above more than anything.Holmes and Ben have been on different pages for the most of the season. I think there has been a cumulative affect on Ben not practicing during the week and Holmes' week dismissal for smoking pot.
Did he start smoking this year or something? How do you know he didn't smoke more last year?Umm, are you aware of the some of the key (side) effects of marijuana usage? Actually as mentioned before I think it has more to do with Big Ben's lack of time in the pocket, Holmes is their deep threat reciever and Big Ben isn't getting enough time for him to actually get deep, the Steelers pass blocking has been atrocious the few times i've watched them play!I agree with this. M. Irvin did pretty well on Sundays after a dinner plate full of sniff.Maybe its coke AND hookers for the ultimate effect. You may be on to something. So for football performance:Cocaine =If Matt Jones can turn it around, so can Holmes.![]()

totally agree, the dynasty hype was was a total mistake imo, people will still come up with stuff why he should be or will be really good.He was the most over-rated player going into drafts this year, especially in dynasty leagues. He was going anywhere from 3rd to 5th round in dynasties....what a joke. Never understood the hype here.
Your all wrong, The reason he sucks is because he was my 3rd round pick in re-draft. I never should have drafted him so HIGH.If you guys think that the fact that Holmes smokes pot is affecting his play your all out of your minds. The fact that Big Ben is struggling and Ward is healthy and back in the spotlight are the reasons for Holmes demise.
The majority of these guys smoke pot. I personally know of one long time veteran still playing at a high level that smokes every day.The_U said:You beat me to it! Probably because he is a pretty talented guy. Great speed, good hands, good situation. The hype was definitely justifiedmozzy84 said:totally agree, the dynasty hype was was a total mistake imo, people will still come up with stuff why he should be or will be really good.Sweetness_34 said:He was the most over-rated player going into drafts this year, especially in dynasty leagues. Amazing how hindsight always comes out 20/20. He was not overrated in the pre-season. He was ranked just as he should have been. He hasn't panned out for a few different reasons, but please don't pretend like anyone knew this going in.Probably because he is a pretty talented guy. Great speed, good hands, good situation. A friend of mine went to a few parties Santonio attended back in college, she said she never saw him without a bowl in his hand.Iwannabeacowboybaby! said:Did he start smoking this year or something? odd, strikes me as more of a roll it up guy rather than a pack it in guyA friend of mine went to a few parties Santonio attended back in college, she said she never saw him without a bowl in his hand.Iwannabeacowboybaby! said:Did he start smoking this year or something? Also, keep in mind that he was targeted 9 times last week. 2 of those passes were picked. He's been a disappointment, but it may be a mistake to sit him this week.SD is putrid against the pass. This may be a "get right" game for Big Ben and Holmes. Look for at least one big play from the duo.
That was my thought as well... I already benched Cotch, and have a remaining choice of VJax or Holmes (my opponent is starting Rivers against me). I plan to use Holmes for the first time in over a month; SD secondary, as noted, is suspect, PLUS, Ben actually had a full week of practice for once--I'm thinking that MAY help w/ the timing issues between Holmes & Ben. To me, Holmes has upside this week, and I am going for the homerun, even though VJax is probably the safer play. I think Pitt will be in Rivers' face all day, & he will be utilizing Gates & LT in the short passing game, whereas SD has little pass rush unless they blitz, so Ben may actually have time to make plays downfield to Holmes. He's been a disappointment, but it may be a mistake to sit him this week.SD is putrid against the pass. I'm in the same boat as you. I also have Jackson and Holmes and I'm starting Holmes this week. FBG projections have them just about dead even, but I'm giving the nod to Holmes because he's playing at home and the Chargers pass D is horrid. I figure if he can't break out this week against the Chargers, he won't break out this season.Lets keep our fingers crossed....That was my thought as well...
