Sarkisian passes on Oakland HC job (1 Viewer)

MichiganRaider wrote: The NFL Network reports Steve Sarkisian opted out of the Raiders' head-coaching search because Lane Kiffin wasn't ready to come with him. Sarkisian and Kiffin, who was interviewed by Oakland, run the offense at the University of Southern California. The duo known as "Sarkiffin" to some around the Trojans' football program appears to be inseparable. According to NFL Total Access, Sark was offered 2 million dollars a year (1.5 more than he makes at USC).
Maybe they are hoping Pete the poodle decides to leave usc

I grew up watching the St. Louis football Cardinals make bonehead decisions one after another. They were the laughingstock of the league. (well deserved too )

However, I don't ever remember them being at such a low point for an organization, as the Raiders sit today. I feel for all Raider fans, it must sucketh very much as there just never seems to be any good news about your team.

Now that Al Davis has been rejected by USC offensive coach Steve Sarkisian, the Oakland Raiders have their sights on New England offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, another young coach, who would be wise to accept the offer. If the Raiders select LSU quarterback JaMarcus Russell with the first overall pick, Oakland could be in position to win in a couple of years. Russell has that much potential.

And if McDaniels fails in his first stint as a NFL head coach, his career wouldn't be damaged that badly because he could always blame Davis. Most owners and general managers would accept that as an excuse. Yes, it's difficult to work with Davis, but there are only 32 such jobs in pro football and a talented young coach would be silly to reject Oakland out of hand especially when you are 30-years old.

Sarkisian and Lane Kiffin were both convinced to remain at USC after head coach Pete Carroll was able to double their salaries. One report had Sarkisian earning almost $700,000. Plus, Sarkisian knows that Carroll is starting to check out NFL opportunities which could put him in line to succeed Carroll should someone pay Carroll's hefty asking price next year.
