Good times!
How do you open a group MMS message in Hangouts? My Hangouts MMS is working just fine.
Have sent and received group messages to ATT and Sprint iPhone users.

Wait, I don't get what you are seeing here. This is definitely working for me.MMS support is still lackingVoice and Hangouts integrated with the update. Texting from Google voice via hangouts is now possible. I don't have the update, but I'm hoping this will enable group texting and MMS with my Google voice number, which was previously impossible.![]()
My initial Hangouts MMS testing:
I can now send, by way of a google link, MMS messages to a single number (VZW confirmed - and presumably AT&T)
I can receive MMS from a T-Mobile user (and presumably Sprint)
I can not receive MMS messages from a Verizon User (and presumably AT&T)
I can not send or receive group texts (MMS)
The "Can Nots" listed above are kind of a big deal that I was REALLY hoping would be included in this update.

Well, I'll be switching off Tmo. The coverage is pretty abysmal, and calls garble up all the time.. I'll be looking to perhaps the AT&T prepaid, or some other option. The coverage seems less expansive, but they also have coverage in places where ATT and Verizon frequently fail me. I was at the beach the other day, where I historically never had service, and I had full bar LTE going on Tmo. Pretty sweet.Talked to a friend who's used TMobile locally for years. She confirmed she frequently hits "NO SIGNAL" areas... even in spots that aren't very rural and would expect to have coverage. That's disappointing and has me completely ruling them out.must be an area by area thing.
FYI the Open SIgnal App is awesome for determining what the average up and down speeds / reliability / etc are for all the major networks in your area... plus it tracks time without signal...etc. Has nice coverage maps and such too. Not bad for free. I've used it for a couple days to check out coverage in areas around town that I frequent and it's definitely a two horse race here (ATT/VZW).

Shame, because this $30 a month deal is screamin' cheap...
I did the same thing a couple months ago. Switched to the Net10, been very pleased, except for the inability to do HotSpotting. Either Page plus or selectelMy 2 year contract with Verizon will be up end of December. Haven't had any problems with our two iPhone 5. What's going to be our best option with those phones finding a pay as you go plan? We rarely go over 2GB of data per month and I don't think we've used 200 minutes of talk in a month ever over this 2 year contract. Unlimited texting a must though. Help me save some $$$
This. I have the same problem OUTSIDE my house. The map on their site shows killer coverage at my house; that's not my real world experience. Bummer because I love the plan they offer. The Indestructible said:I used to have ATT but switched to Tmobile. I discovered that, even though Tmobile's map shows excellent coverage in my area, the signal doesn't seem to penetrate buildings as well as ATTs. So I'd like to get back on the ATT network.
If I go with something like Straighttalk, will I get the same exact coverage/signal strength/speed that I had while with ATT?
That was my experience when I tried to sign up for the $30 plan that led me to send back my phone and stick with Verizon. I also got different answers from different people about whether the plan was $30 inclusive of fees or not. Fifty cents isn't a big deal, but they should know their own plan details. After the experience, paying up for Verizon doesn't bother me as muchI should not have gone back to T-Mobile. So bad. Worst costumer service I've ever dealt with. People who speak your language somewhat clearly would be nice when the headsets they use can make even a flat American accent hard to understand. And of course it's not the $30 you are quoted, but $30.50. Like anybody is going to gaf about 50 cents, but that's the point.
I get poor signal strength at home and at work (both in areas where tmobile's coverage map is strongest), but I'd prefer not to have to get 2 new devices just to get the same quality I had with ATT or, as I'm wondering, could get with something like straighttalk.I think T-Mobile well give you a small booster that works from your Wi-Fi... They announced it like 2 weeks ago

I would walk around and lose Tmo constantly. I am in downtown Leesburg, near Exeter, and the Leesburg ES. I would lose it easily in buildings, etc. I also had horrible coverage when I traveled. We live in the same town, I was contemplating Tmo was the coverage just that bad?I did the same thing a couple months ago. What about something like Ting? I know the verizon phone won't work, but you could sell it and get a sprint one.My big thing is that my son is turning 12 and getting to that cell phone age. I gave him my old iPhone 4, but haven't activated service for it. We have Verizon and they want $40 a month just to activate the damn thing. He's twelve, in school most of the day. It would really just be for emergency contact and so that I can check up on where he's at with GPS.
Cell contracts are just ridiculous.
I have an android phone so unfortunately we need more than iMessaging, but likely something like this is where I'm going to be headed. What about something like Ting? You can deactivate the data and just enable call and text. This would run you $6/month for the phone and imessages are free, could get all the access he needs via wifi.
Just a thought, it's what I do for my son and his brother will likely get one soon.

It's disappointing because the Tmo model is great. I love the fact that there are no data overage charges, they just throttle you down if you go over.

Oof. Cricket is garbage down here. DECENT coverage (until you have to travel), but sloowwwww speeds.Well, switched to Cricket from Tmobile. It's more expensive, but way way better performance, and still at least cheaper than Verizon. We'll see how it works longer term.
Forgive me if I am not understanding correctly. Do you install the app and then it basically tracks where you go and tells you how all the carriers perform in those areas so you can assess the providers? Or does it only track your specific carrier on your specific phone? The coverage seems less expansive, but they also have coverage in places where ATT and Verizon frequently fail me. Tracks all providers so you can assess them all. For example.. I am on Verizon, however the average speeds shown at my office are: ATT (5.3Mbps Down / 3.8Mbps up), Verizon (5.2 Down / 6.3 Up), Sprint (2.4 Down / 2.2 Up), T Mobile (6.4 Down, 2.2 Up), Boost (0.5 Down / 0.19 Up). My old iPhone 5 on Cspire was always in the Boost range when I tested.Forgive me if I am not understanding correctly. Yes Ting uses Sprint network. Also, if you are out of Sprint's range of service, you roam on Verizon for Talk and Text (No increase in cost)Thanks, GB!Tracks all providers so you can assess them all. Just downloaded the app and will check it out. I am off contract with Sprint and looking to make a move as I am not terribly happy with the quality of their signal for phone and data.
Also, just read about Ting in this thread. It says they are on the Sprint network. Does that mean that their phone and data signal quality will be the same as Sprint? Looking at their a la carte pricing, I would be open to switching to them if it is the same quality at the prices they are showing.
Well, I spoke to two people and they still have not created another loyalty plan since the $60 one became generally available, . I did, however, find one little difference between the two plans. Data overages on Loyalty are $10/gb and, I believe, $15 on the regular Single Line plan. I went for the Loyalty version, mainly because I don't have to worry about whether, as a promotional plan, the SIngle Line plan could end after 2 yr contract. This morning.DId they offer you the plan very recently (i.e. since introducing this new "Single Line Plan")? I was offered the $60 Loyalty Plan a few months ago, but decided to wait and see if I wanted the iphone 6 instead of Moto X. I was hoping that, since that $60 plan is now generally available, there would be something lower priced now offered in loyalty plans. So, Verizon offered that plan to you icon, as a new customer? "Loyalty Plan" my ###.
A little lower would be nice but I really couldn't turn down a plan priced like a prepaid plan but with a subsidized phone.

Are times that lean up in lawyerland™, GB? :(
I'm not noticing a difference from my regular AT&T speeds.Really?? I've been pretty happy.FYI, Cricket advertises that they have LTE, and they do, but they cap speeds @ 8MBps, meaning their "LTE" is slower than T-Mobile's HSPA+42.

Hope you get it straightened out. What is your usage? Mins/Texts/Data?Ugh. Killed my cell phone today. I'm a bit clumsy. Dropped it one too many times. Have about 6 months left on a contract with Sprint. Been with them for about 15 years but willing to move. Any thoughts on other carriers in the Denver area? Currently have a Galaxy 4S and relatively happy with it so would want something comparable feature wise. Don't use phone/text that much but do browse the net a bit. Nothing crazy though, just static pages like this. No TV/video streaming. Anyways, if anyone has any thoughts they'd be appreciated. Gonna have to move pretty quick on this.

Based upon my last few months bills I just looked at online. Was just looking at Ting's website and looks like my bill would be about $26/mo. What network are they on? If my phone can be fixed can I use it on their network? I think I may just need a new screen for the phone.

Found a couple of places in this area that can repair phones so gonna try to get it fixed tomorrow. If they can fix it I'm gonna look in to switching providers. Sprint was absolutely useless on the phone today and I'm sick of them anyways. They're on Sprint. And they're probably your ideal fit. Yes, you can bring a GS4 over if you can get it operable again.Mins - Maybe 60-100 min./mo.What is your usage?

Hope it works out for you. I've saved a ton by switching to Ting. If you decide to go that route, use the referral on the first page. (Anyone's) so you and they can get the credit.
