How is T-Mobile by you? There is a $30 plan that has 100 minutes, unlimited texts, and 5 GB of LTE data. Seems like a good fit

Any more info on this? I actually don't need unlimited texts, as I have google voice, but have a few legacy texters causing me around 10-20 texts per month, so it wouldn't hurt. Use about 2 GB per month and have only gone over 100 minutes once since November. I also like the TMobile option to call on Wi-Fi, as my house is a total dead zone. Do those count against your minutes?

TMobile is supposedly 2nd best in the Philadelphia area for data speed/coverage.

My ATT contract expires this month.

Jaysus uses this plan. Not sure if the T-Mo wifi calling is included w/ this one or not. I don't think it used to be, but it may be now. WiFi calling should NOT count against minutes. If you go over your 100 mins on this one, you just pay like $0.10 per minute I think.

1) $30 T-Mobile Plan

2) $45 Consumer Cellular Plan (200 minutes, 2 GB, 15,000 texts) where I believe I can just put the new sim card in the IPhone?

3) $60 Verizon Plan (Unlimited text and talk, 2 GB, and comes with a free IPhone 5, but 2-year contract)

Verizon is number 1 in network coverage here and the new phone would be nice, especially getting more storage.

I like the flexibility of no contract, though. Kind of leaning toward Consumer Cellular, assuming I'd have to buy a new phone with T-Mobile (I don't need a high-end smartphone, but something decent.)

The $30 T-Mobile plan is here. It is hidden at the bottom under "More Plan Options." You can bring any device to this plan (assuming it has the right GSM/LTE radios), you just activate the account online, pop in the SIM card, and go.

With T-Mo you can keep your existing phone. T-Mobile and AT&T phones are cross compatible, Sprint and Verizon are not.

Wife and I both want to upgrade to new smart phones. I looked back on the history of my usage. Haven't used over 2 gigs a month this year. Talk under 100 minutes a month. Send a ####load of texts. My wife has never owned a smart phone but I'm sure she will fall into the same range as me. Not sure if there is such a thing as international texting but my buddy is moving to Australia soon and I will be texting him some.

Woah StraightTalk is cheap. 45 a month for unlimited everything.

StraightTalk has some of the worst customer service known to man.On the flip side, I hear great things about Consumer Cellular's customer service. Hulk can verify, probably.

I have had this plan for about a year now. Only problem is lack of t-mobile coverage in some areas. And by lack, I mean non-existent.

Right. I would rather pay the 15 bucks extra a month for Consumer Cellular. At least they use AT&T towers.

Saw that. Kind of envious, even though my Moto X on Republic is also serving me well. Only reason I don't flip now is because Republic gives me unlimited everything and I kinda like that security. Small quibble, though.

If your iPhone is out of contract (after 2 years).... you can just call AT&T and ask for the unlock code.
