Say you got an all expense paid trip to Sochi (1 Viewer)

SUPER ELITE UPPER TIER
No out of pocket cost to go to the Olympics and it cost you no vacation days. Completely free. Knowing that there's a pretty good chance a terrorist attack takes place, would you go? Would you take your family? Would you feel safe?

This is 100% hypothetical since no one has yet to give me free tickets. Thanks a lot, Obama. :hot:

But I wouldn't go. Of course, I'm not a huge Olympics fan. I enjoy watching it on TV, but have no desire to go to the games. So that could weigh into my decision.

Just wondering what other people's thoughts are.

I'd say bet the house that an attack happens. How big? Who knows. Could just be something small, but I think something will happen.

Sochi looks like a neat town... I wouldn't even have to pack any cold weather clothing, and I would have a chance to see the Curling finals. I'm in, sign me up (but leave the family at home, I need some "me" time).

Weird. Totally thought "the only Winter Olympics games I'd want to watch would be curling." But I'd want to show up for just that and nothing else. And I do think the risk is pretty high. And it's probably not worth the plane flight just to catch some curling then go home.

Pass.

I'd go. I've been to two Olympics, but both were summer games. I'm more a fan of the summer ones but would love to attend a winter games, too. Even if a terrorist attack happens, the chances I'd be at the particular event would be small, and chances that I'd be seriously injured/killed even smaller. Doesn't worry me.

All expenses paid I'm in. i would go in the daytime and do my best to avoid competitive winter sports muslims hate, like, I dunno, synchronised female learning.

Seeing the ski jump finals or just about any of the snowboarding finals would be awesome.

But I'm not going unless I can hold up a big sign saying "Nancy Kerrigan is still MY sweetheart" during the figure skating finals.

The first sound of BOOM I'm dropping to the ice, anywhere, and crying out "Why? Why?"

The hockey would be awesome, and I love the skiing events.

If you go to the biathlon events at least you know the athletes could protect the spectators if some kind of trouble goes down.

I'd go but no family, and I'd focus on a very few events I really like and spend the rest of the time getting loaded with any Scandinavian and Euro girls I could track down at the hotel or in the pubs.

Of all the people I would enjoy seeing the muslims piss off simply because the response would be brutal, Putin is right near the top of my list. Let's see if these clowns really want a war.

The place will be crawling with military, heterosexual to a man.

Perhaps someone will come out of the closet with a bang?

If it was the summer Olympics I'd go for the women's gymnastics and beach volleyball. No desire to go to Russia in February.

care to make it interesting?
Are you offering me money to carry out a terrorist attack?
No. I'm willing to win your home on your bet.
You'd do that for me?
Sounded like you were offering

This thread needs a terrorist attack.

Actually knowing? No

Based solely on your paranoia? Yes
I'm not saying it's going to happen 100%. I'm going off of what the terrorists have said they plan to do and the travel alert issued by the State Department.

Not sure it's exactly paranoia if those two things are happening.

I know what you're asking, GB. I won't be betting with anyone that there will be a terrorist attack. Besides the fact that I'm a recovering addict of gambling, I think it's pretty twisted to bet money in the hopes that a terrorist attack happens.

What the...?

You know, I'm beginning to suspect Jaysus may not be black.

More important questions:

First Class airfare?

What type of hotel accommodation? Like luxury suite at the Ritz or queen bed at a Best Western?

Because it's international, let's say First Class. As for hotel, I'd say above average. Not the best, but a good, nice place.
