School officer body slamming 6th grader...NOT excessive force (1 Viewer)

Wait, the article says kid has history of violence AND possessing weapons. 11 years old, now that's some fine parenting but no one will talk about that.

If you are aware of a kids history and know what he has done and is capable of,  you do whatever it takes to subdue him.   If you know nothing about a kid then getting physical should be a no no vs an 11 years old.  (obviously if the kid is holding some weapon, that's different)

That's "excessive force".  The officer had control the second he grabbed the 11 year old.  He's twice his size, maybe more.  Subdue him.  No need to pick the kid up and slam him to the ground.  That was all anger from a power tripper.

I'm usually very much on the side of civilians, -- like, very much so, and I think people here know that -- but if the eleven year-old has a history of violence and possessing firearms/weapons and the like on school grounds and the security guard knows it, I have no problem with this.

Tough ####, kid. Stop dragging that #### around school and making violence your modus operandi.

I am usually very pro police and I think that was an absurd use of force. Had he tackled him hard, I would have cut a lot of slack. That was different. Reminded me of Leonard floyd picking up amendola.

Yeah, it looks absolutely awful, but if the kid had weapons and a history of violence, I can almost understand it. You don't want a crazy eleven year-old with a gun popping a cap in you.

I don't think they were saying he had weapons on him then. I think they said he had been previously in trouble for them. If the deputy involved had said he thought the kid had a gun, you can bet they would have said so.

That was kind of my point in saying I would have cut a lotta slack in tackling him hard. You never lose contact with him then and you can make the case that it was out of an abundance of caution for fear he had a weapon. He actually releases his hold on him. What if he would have chris carson'd away? That reeks of anger the way he throws him.

That's fair. I don't know the exact situation and wasn't there. I've sort of been at the forefront of conservatives on this board frustrated with police brutality and unnecessary acts of police violence towards citizens.

That said, schools are different both in their age and communitarian aspect.

I really don't have too much dog in this fight, so I'll just listen from here on out.

I guess the biggest issue I have is, it was dismissal time and regardless of what happened prior, the kid was walking away. Let him walk....deal with it tomorrow or when you don't have to chase him down. I'm not gung-ho on saying it was excessive, but it seems it was unnecessary.

The slam to the ground was totally unnecessary
