I think that's the thing that worries me as a Hackett owner - high ankle sprains are notoriously slow to heal, and it seems as if players always come back from them earlier than they should. I'm not expecting anything from Hackett until maybe late October, at the earliest. If he comes back too early, I think it will be a frustrating case of him tweaking it enough in practice to be useful in games.
Lets take a vote among Hackett owners: Grab Burleson and drop Hackett? Or hang on to Hackett in the hopes that he gets the job back?
** Obviously, some don't have Burleson available, but we have a limited bench in my league **
I'm really starting to feel that Hackett is dead weight since his upside is so limited by giving Burleson a 4-6 week chance to completely earn the job...

As someone who drafted Hackett in a redraft league (late in the draft) and as someone who toyed with the idea but did not take Burleson in the subscription contest, I fully expect Burleson to remain the starter when Hackett returns.
Burleson is playing like a former starter who wants his cred back (see Chris Brown).

He is? All I know of Burleson is that he has 80 yards receiving in 2 games, -15% VOA, and a 50% catch% so far, and Bloom ripped on him in the week 1 recaps. None of that made me think he was the better player.

The problem is that we just don't have any pre-injury Hackett work to compare Burleson to. I still feel that Hackett is the better WR, even with all the improvements Nate made over the offseason. Ben Obumanu is another x factor in the mix, who I feel can do as well as Burelson when he comes back from a hammy issue, should be next week. They'll probably split time, not as much as DJ/Nate would though. Unless Nate goes back to his habit of dropping the ball. Holmgren will yank him quick if he does that. And also with Obmanu healthy there will be more 4 WR sets. Right now, with Holmy dedicated to getting the ball to Branch, I don't have high expectations for Burleson other than an odd TD and maybe 2 or 3 PR TDs, and when Hackett is back and thery split time I see Dj as the red zone target and relegating Burleson back to WR2b. So basically, a quagmire and not much in the way of expectations for Nate..I have Hackett in a keeper league and if he is going to be out for 4 more weeks I will probably stash him on my IR and save him for next year, he IS better than Burleson and is a UFA next year. I picked up Burleson in two other leagues (not the same team as Hackett) but don't plan on playing him other than as a bye week/injury filler.
