Seahawks Sign Gallery (1 Viewer)

Get some! OL is looking loads better than last year with a healthy Okung, the 2 rookies and now Gallery at LG.
At least they are building up the team the right way. This season may be tough with Jackson at QB, but if he doesn't pan out they have the other pieces in place.

How much does this hurt the Oakland O-line?
Hawks stole their Oline guru and best O-linemen....it destroys them.
Cable was fired and Gallery was given clear indication to seek employment elsewhere; Seattle didn't steal anything.Jared Veldheer is no doubt their best olineman.
Cable was fired as the head coach (wrongly according to many Raiders fans) and Gallery is probably a top 10 LG in the league. This no doubt hurts Oakland's OL in a big way, even if it was expected.

You know Gallery has missed 14 regular season starts due to injury over the past 2 seasons, right? Factor in the games he left prematurely due to injury and he has been available to play about 50% of the time when it counts. Last year Daniel Loper (who Oakland resigned this offseason) filled in for Gallery with no problems.

mad bro?

Lynch is looking like he could be a nice value this year. Maybe not if the QBs are as putrid as they appear on paper, but the Oline looks nicely improved.

Gallery started 12 games last year and only 6 the year before. Mcfadden's ypc was 5.4 last year which was a jump from 3.2 the year before. This just helps confirm what I have read, that there is a noticeable differencein OL play when Gallery is in than when he is not.

With Leinert not signing with Seattle, there is still hope that they'll sign a decent QB. With Gallery + their 2 top draft picks, this o-line could be much improved. I was already down to draft Lynch as a value backup, but he's looking better every day. Hopefully his ADP doesn't climb too much from now until drafts (currently RB30).

In addition to that the young Oline the hawks have will be able to learn A TON from Gallery as he leads that Oline.

He might make a nice RB3 and is going in the late 6th round of 12 team redrafts. Lots of touches, so-so production.

Like this signing a lot for Seattle. Lynch may not be great, but I believe he'll be given enough touches to be an adequate #2 RB this year with upside.

If you mean with Hue Jackson calling plays for McFadden, then you would be correct. I am not trying to rain on your parade, just giving you honest feedback from a guy who has watched every NFL game Gallery has ever played in. When healthy, he is definitely a serviceable guard, but he is not a guy who changes the makeup/identity of an oline. More than anything, he obviously knows Cable's system inside/out so there is a lot of value to that year one for you guys.

:goodposting: Nice move by SeattleSeattle and SF will be the headless horsemen, with no QB but a talented roster....while (post Kolb trade), StL and AZ will be the exact opposite, crap rosters but they do have QBs.Interesting to see which roster "wins" :hophead:

True that. All I really know about Gallery is what I've read from Raiders fans on message boards. I'm definitely just excited about having a solid o-line for once since Hutchinson left.

Yes. Gallery is not bad, but he's not a beast. Solid player, and reuniting him with Cable is a good thing. Getting Cable as O-line coach, if they are going full ZBS, is a much nicer move. Of course, the thing about the ZBS is you don't need 'beasts' at OL, just mobile, smart guys. The time to be worried is pass protection. I know Gallery looks like the Undertaker, but he gets tossed around like a corpse in pass protection.

The problem with Lynch last year-2024911151192217131421194Lynch's touches last year with SEA (including playoffs). At 4.3 yards per touch (his career average and better than he did last year) that is 5 out of 14 games where you can expect less than 50 yards and 8/14 where you can expect less than 65 yards. I don't see him becoming a #2 RB (even a low end #2) unless either Forsett falls out of favor or Lynch becomes a TD machine. Neither seems likely to me.

So you are going to predict Lynch based off last year despite the fact that they have changed 4 of the 5 offensive linemen and line coach? The line last year for the majority of the season was made up of guys off the street.

Lynch finished last year at RB #23. Okung healthy with Gallery on the other side. Better understanding of the system and playbook. Assuming he's more focused and motivated since his backup didn't replace him the previous year and the team didn't just spend an early 1st on another RB. Finishing at #23 or better would not surprise me. Nothing too special, no huge ypc numbers, just enough touches to get 1100 total yards and 8 TDs. I could live with that as my #2 RB if I had a mid-to-top end #1 RB, a couple of solid WRs and a stud QB.

I used Lynch's career averages not last season's numbers.

Relax guy, he isnt that good. Ask any Raider fan and they hate the guy. Drafted 2nd to be the franchise left tackle and he turns into a serviceable yet injury prone left freakin guard.

making him a good draft pick by Raiders standards Think Russell

Yep, Oaklands offensive line will suck without Gallery. Let's see so far this season McFadden is only averaging a paltry 5.3 yards a carry without Gallery. I don't know why people outside of Oakland kept insisting that Gallery was so good and kept dismissing Oakland fans when we said he wasn't that good and always injured. :boxing:

And don't forget the 0.5 sacks per game the line is giving up.

This thread is gonna get a bit ugly if Boss has a good game this week. I'm hoping to rub it in to the Hawks for "stealing" Gallery and Miller from us.

Come on Boss, show me some love!
