Sean Salisbury On Arkansas (1 Viewer)

Let's see, Salisbury is a known moron...

I don't think you have to worry about him scaring off many recruits.

He was saying that if he had a kid playing high school football that he would tell them not to go to Arkansas or if he was coming out of high school that he would stay away from the school. Everyone knows that what Petrino did was competely wrong, but to go on a station that weilds so much power and tell kids and families to stay away from a university is highly irresponsible and unprofessional.

Of course this is coming from one of the biggest headcases when he was playing QB. He had alot of talent, he just couldn't keep it together mentally.

Watch him waterdown the NFL by saying that every current player and coach is "Great." He uses that word more than Britney Spears says Dang Yall! He lacks any imagination or creativity and just says things fast and loud. I seriously doubt that he thinks about what he is going to say and how it will affect others.

Just my 2 pennies.
And this is the problem with college sports. Salisbury is an idiot because people should be picking schools for their children based on the level of education not the football coach. A very small small percentage of players have a chance at playing pro football so unless you're one of the few, education is more important.
That's not what we're talking about here.

What is irresponsible and unprofessional is to lie to a bunch of men that you coach; to preach to them about ethics, morals, excellence, determination, introspection, loyalty, teamwork and devotion, and then to desert them the next day for more dollars. And then, to do this again to the next group of men you coach. And then to do it a third time.College coaches have a lot of influence over athletes that are still teen agers. Their influence isn't limited to the football field. They do help shape the moral framework of kids coming out of the program. Every single adult that cares about college coaches has every right to shout from the rooftops about what an unloyal scumbag Petrino is. And if I were a parent with 17 year-old athlete you bet I'd want someone to warn me about Petrino so I could send him to a chool with a coach that was worthy of that role.

The second part of your rant against Salsbury may be warranted. But it has nothing to do with what you wrote about his comments against Petrino.
He took a paycut coming to Arkansas, but don't let the facts get in your way. That should tell you about the situation at Atlanta. And didn't some of his players gripe all year long about he wasn't a good coach (I am thinking Hall here) and are now :stalker: because he left? Shouldn't they be happy about it if he was really that poor of a decision maker?

Would it have been nice to have him coach out the season and not have all this controversy? Yes, but from my understanding he was told he couldn't even talk to Arkansas until he quit. So if he wanted out of Atlanta and into the SEC, he wasn't given much of a choice. Arkansas was about to offer to someone else that week.

I can't fault Salisbury on this one.

Lessons Petrino will teach your kids...

#1. Always look out for Number 1

#2. Don't be afraid to run away from your mistakes

#3. Always keep your eyes open for something better

#4. Your word means nothing

#5. Telling the truth is overrated

Are people really faulting Petrino for leaving Atlanta? That franchise is a complete trainwreck. A huge amount of money was wrapped up in a player that wasn't really that good and now is gone from the team for at least two years. A giant mess isn't what Petrino signed up for.

so, in your words...a Potential playoff team loses a player that wasnt really that good, becomes a trainwreck and Petino should shoulder no responsability for this teams record?Petrino turned this team into a giant mess, and bolted when he helped screw it up

No, those would be your words.

Despite what the blowhard steak said all I know is Arkansas got an outstanding college football coach who will modernize the offense AND the team and recruits love him. To man every player Nutt recruited is staying and several players who had commited to the likes of USC have said they will step back and take another look at Arkansas.

I thought a CB from TX had decommitted and opted to go with Boston College. And what USC recruits are you talking about?

Joe Adams from CAC in Arkansas committed to USC but is now considering Arkansas.I've heard nothing about CB from Texas who decommited. Several players who Nutt recruited did open back up the process during the time Arkansas went without a coach which is to be expected but at this time I'm not aware of anyone who has decommited.

What about the others among the "several" you mentioned? The decommitted DB recruit was Ugo Okpara.

I did not consider him because he opened back up the recruiting process before Petrino was hired. Now he's saying he would not play for a coach like Petrino but he was taking visits and talking about going to other schools before Petrino was even hired.Arkansas got a commitment from a QB who had committed to Tulsa but I can't recall his name. Tulsa is not USC but they did have an explosive offense last year and this QB was recruited by the likes of LSU and Nebraska.

As far as I can tell no evidence seems to exist that recruits give a damn how Petrino left but you never now what some of them base their decision on. I once read were Rhett Bomar chose OU over Texas because he said he felt like Mack Brown put his hands on him to much and made him feel uncomfortable.
